I remember this happened a few years ago, too.  Karen, you told me about it, they were doing it with my patterns  ;O(
Thank you for bringing attention to it  Woolybear!

I have tons, too!  I love to draw new patterns that will make a teddy to fit in to antique doll clothing that I have purchased.  I save the original in case I ever purchase another little dress of the same size.   I love using antique "Nancy Ann" dolly dresses to dress my bears and have designed about 4 or 5 patterns to use for that size dress.  I have patterns that other artist's designed in my stash, too!  I tweak those as well but still give the artist credit for the original design.  I think I would get horribly bored if I used only 4 or 5 patterns over and over again!

She's gorgeous, Edie!  I love her!  Jessie, a teddy doll has a mohair bear body that at the top where the teddy bear head would be is a hood like a jacket and tucked in to the hood is a precious little bisque dolly's face - this one is an antique doll, with a beautifully painted face and glass eyes.  The top of the hood has a gorgeous silk bow that has frayed with age but you can imagine what it was like when it was new - precious!

Wow, Peter, your photography is wonderful - you have a way of capturing the personalities of your bears!

Hi Karen,
My 2 cents worth again!  Not to keep posting what you have already posted but truly, I am reading in to what you are writing and I feel if anything creates this much stress just thinking about it,  that it will only get worse should you decide to do it - you stated:  "making me feel uneasy about this whole thing"  and "the collector is putting a lot of pressure on me to do this.  Although, I still think it would be too much work & stress" ...  You mention that this collector is a "friend" - I honestly believe if she is a friend she will understand if you explain that it would be too stressful for you to become involved in reselling your pieces.

Janice

Hi Karen,
I realize you have already decided what to do, but I found the answer right away in the last sentence of your post

"I guess, most importantly, is it worth the stress and negotiation involved" -

Your own words sum it up - if it causes you ANY stress, then it is not worth it  bear_shocked

I also agree that it was very "cheeky" of the collector to even ask such a thing of you!

Janice

Thank you so much, Joanne!  The bear I made several years ago from the rocks was much more red - I'm not sure why this one turned out an earthy ecru color but I do like the color!

I'm laughing, Jenny, because I do pick myself when I hand sew (even when I do the blanket stitch prior to machine sewing)...BUT, never got a pin stick!!!

Thank you so much, everyone!  Katy, the rocks are so red and really soft, not granite hard, so when you soak them in boiling water, the color comes off!  TC, needle felting a full muzzle is a lot more time consuming than I imagined!  Joanne says it gets faster the more you do it!

Thank you so much, Heidi!  I appreciate the compliment!

ttsedona.jpgHello,
It's been a while since I've put one of my bears on TT!  Sedona was a true labor of love from dyeing her mohair
to her needle felted and mohair rooted muzzle.  I have rooted mohair before in small places but have never done
a full muzzle like Joanne Livingston does.  It took hours and hours to complete!   It was fun, though!
I hope you like her!  She's available for adoption on my website!

She's ADORABLE! bear_wub

I never pin!  I always baste by using tiny blanket stitches around each piece prior to sewing, so it's more secure than simply basting using a running stitch and it takes quite a while to blanket stitch each piece but I must say I've never gotten injured with a pin!

Janice

I think if you had moved the hole for the joint on the leg that is falling off to the side up a bit - by up, I mean closer to the top seam not closer to the opening at the top (only about 1/8 or 1/4") and then remove just a bit of stuffing from the ankle and foot, it would straighten it out.  I personally think he looks cute just the way he is, though!

Janice
