Hi All,
I have just bought some tartan brushed cotton fabric that I want to use to make scarves for some of my bears one is a small check in purple and green the other is a larger check in black, white and orange the thing is I would like to "AGE" and distress the fabric before I use it, I know the edges will fray really well when I cut it but I would like to try a fade the colour a bit to make the scarves look old, any suggestions???????
Thank you.
Cute, her nose looks like a piece of chocolate, yum!!!!
Hi All,
I have just put in my first online order at Gerry's (up till now I have only bought my supplies from Spotlight)
I have ordered some mohair, yes I am going to do my first REAL fur bear, I am a bit worried (pricewise) there will be no looking back after I try it.
I have also ordered black nose wax , nose shine and some pre-cut eye whites.
While I wait, impatiently, I would like to ask you all if there are any other recommended suppliers in Australia?
I am particulally looking for some Sassy fur and some 25mm Ratinee.
I would love to know where all you Aussies shop.
He is adorable, I love his outfit.
There are a few on eBay at the moment, sorry I don't know how to send link.
Hi All,
My Sister wants to start making Gollys so I thought I would ask if anyone knows of any Golly pattern online free or otherwise.
Ta
Love the eyes!!!!
Gorgeous!!!!!
Hi All,
I just bought my first issue of Australian Bear Creations magazine, wow didn't know this kind of mag existed and for it to be Aussie even better, free patterns for such lovely bears, amazing.
But...... Can anyone tell me how often this magazine comes out??, I do NOT want to miss the next issue.
Hi All,
I am making a 12 inch bear I have only started his face and so far this is the largest bear and the first bear with a head gusset that I have done.
I have completed the head, embroidered the nose, put the eyes in and sewn on the ears but....... He is looking more like a mouse than a bear.
So please: What is the difference between a mouse and a bear? What I mean is if I were trying to make a mouse how would it differ from a bear?
The heads in the book were all Teddy heads but with different expression, mouth open and stuff.
Just imagine what fun you could have swapping heads and tricking people. Lol.
Hi All,
My sister has borrowed 101 bears to make by Nancy Tillberg from our local library and today I looked through it, amazing book with lots of lovely bears but one in particular fascinated me it was a bear with 3 or 4 ( can't remember how many) changeable heads. Does anyone know how this is done, how they attach and stay on???? I love the idea of making one of these after all the head is the most fun part to make, I get a bit bored putting the bodies together. Lol.
I have only skimmed through the book, looked at the pictures, so it may of metioned how it was done but I thought I would ask as I know some of you have this book. Ta
Hi All,
I hope you can help me???
I have a pattern for a 12"(30cm) old fashioned bear that I would like to make in a 1/2 inch(appox 7mm) sparse, distresses(parts if the fabric is just backing) fake fur.
Before I cut all my pieces out I would like to know if this "fur" would be work for this size bear or should I use a smaller pattern???? I have a 8"(20cm) pattern also(I only have a small collection of patterns so far)
Thank you.
Oh and I have a 35mm cotter pin set would that be strong enough such a bear???? Ta.
WOW, when I first saw the photos I thought I was a real dog, lovely.
He is lovely.
He is really lovely.
Absolutely fab. I love him.
Hi,
As I may already have mentioned  I collect reborn babies, I have 5 and they are all girls.
Now I have started making Teddy Bears ( O.K, I know I have only may two but I am working on my third)
I am really drawn to making "Boy" bears.
Does anyone else have a preference?
I can't think to why this is but...... I do remember when I was really little I used to think cats were girls and dogs were boys. Ha ha
Hi All,
I have a question for you all:
What kind of reactions do you get from friends family and others when you show them your creations????
I collect reborn dolls and now make Teddy bears, I have shown girls at work my reborns and got very mixed reactions so when I showed then the bears I had made I was very surprised to get the same mixed reactions.
I foolishly thought that Teddies would have been a bit more widely accepted but I still got weird looks as if I was a nutter.
So how about you?????
Awwwww, so cute.
I love him, he is gorgeous.
Lovely
