After reading all about competitions and our views on them this week, I thought it might be fun if we shared pictures of our award winning bears/dolls/crafts in here. It doesn't make a difference if you won a major teddy award, or an award at your local garden fete, came first, second or third or received a nomination, please share your work here with pride.
To get us started, I've uploaded a picture of 'Himself', a 32" bear I created especially for the 'Big Bears Undressed' category of the British Bear Artist Awards way back in 1998. He was made at a time when I was trying hard to help my daughter build much needed confidence. I wanted to make a statement bear which for us said it was enough simply to be yourself in life. I was thrilled to bits when he won his category!
Paula he's great! Maybe I will be nominated at the BBAA this December...fingers crossed...I'll show you all my competition entry later......
Ellen, he's gorgeous! Thanks for sharing him here.
Gemma, good luck with your BBAA entry ... we'd love to see him here!
Goldenteddy Award 1992... "Sandy"
Designed by : Jodi Falk ( Rankin) Bears By jodi
I will share more later if I can dig them up from the past.
Ellen , GREAT JOB !!
What a super panda Jodi!
Are those eyelids I can see? I was under the impression that artists have only started embellishing eyes in more recent years ... just goes to show how little I know! I think it's going to be really interesting to see which techniques have been employed for competition bears over the years. Thanks for letting us see 'Sandy'! He's a smasher!
I haven't won any awards yet, but I dream................someday!!
This is Skippy. He is one of my very early bears. He took a blue ribbon at the fair 4 years ago.
Aw Millie, he has such a cute nose!
Okay, I know you've all seen thes but here they are my babies again:
The bear in the blue sweater is "Hayden's Cub". He won first place in the Steiff North American Bear Artist Contest in 2004

I love all the bears shown here and love the meaning behind your bear Paula - he must have been fantastic for hugging. I have only ever entered one competition and was over the moon to receive a nomination in the Bear Bears category of the Teddy Bear Scene Reader's Choice Awards with my bear Dougal - I havn't yet heard the results -
Can't wait to see other creations here. Good luck Gemma.
Hugs
Catherine
Well Dougal is just gorgeous , Catherine
Millie, your bear has such a cute and original style. You shoudl make more of those.
Paula you know how I love your huggable bears. I love the color of the one you pictured. One day I am going to adopt one.
Ellen, You raccoon is fantastic. I can see why he won a TITA.
Jodi, my , you have been at this bear thing a while! Love your panda.
...and if I may add a "ps" ....I think that anyone who puts thier heart and soul into thier work and creates from the heart with all the passion in their being...well then, you are a winner.
There is no trophy for this but the fact that you are true to yourself, believe in what you do, have personal satisfaction, and know that you do your very best....what an amazing reward that is.
Here are a couple of my "winners".
"Binkie and his Bear" was my first Toby nomination, and winner in 1995. I even got to go to the Toby awards banquet in DisneyWorld, Florida for the presentation and had to make a speech in front of a gazillion people - it was wonderful!!!
Old Father Christmas, 22", was a Golden Teddy Nominee in 2000.
After reading the posts on the Lincoln City show, I decided to add one more - my "Vanessa, the Bear Collector" won "Best of Show" at the Lincoln City show in Oregon in 2000 - totally unexpected and such a thrill! ( No wonder I loved the show and can't wait to go back!! )
P.S. How do you get the words to appear under each photo - or before the photos - mine always end up at the end of all the pictures and I can't see any way to change it - if anyone can help please PM me so as not to disrupt this thread - thanks!
Wow, GREAT bears everyone (oops! not just bears - racoon and tiger too!!!)- it is neat to see all these wonderful winners! I was going to post this at the start of my last message but since the words appeared under MY photos - it looked like I was tooting my own horn instead -
Ok... since I'm new, let's see if I do this right.
(I'm not much of a photographer, sorry!)
Ciannait is 4", made from "fuzzy felt" I found and LOVE! I made her for Hunter's (my daughter) 10th BDay. She won a pink ribbon (Honorable Mention) at the State Fair of Texas this year. She's on display there right now for all fellow Texans that might be heading out to the fair.
My favourite award winner is my 'Faithful Friends' entry which won the miniature category of TBS Readers' Choice Awards last year.
The two bears are 5cm sitting and 3cm sitting (so the picture will probably appear bigger then the actual bears!!).
Here is Leonardo my June ACE award winner...
All your bears are great everyone!!! they are true winners, and good luck to all who are waiting to hear back on awards.
Hugs,
Krista
Well I know you've all seen these recently but here are my two efforts!!!
Clarence won a blue ribbon and a encouragement award at the TABA
and Ben won best of section and best in theme of show
Wow ther are some really great bears here....I love these posts that are full of photos, such wonderful eye candy!!!
Just got in from my dinner date to find this wonderful array of award winning work here! What a treat! Thank you all so much for sharing your special bears ... I'm really enjoying this thread- it's great to see such a super body of work heralded with such pride on TT.
I must hunt out a few more of my pics tomorrow.
My circus bear, Phineas (named after P.T. [Phineas Taylor] Barnum), won a third-place rosette ribbon at an ILTBC convention way back in 1999. The theme of the convention was Teddy's Three Ring Circus. (Sorry about the photo quality!)
Phineas was made with an old blue mohair with old-gold/yellow backing. He was able to stand on the base you see him leaning on in the photo and hold three linked brass rings from his paws. He also had his own circus ring painted in gold and dark red with straw/sawdust on the "floor." Oh, and yes, he has a wee tail!
This is a fun thread--I am loving the bears you've all posted here!
Bear hugs,
Debora
Wow, These are some lovely bears! Congratulations to all!
Here is my very first award winner. He won first place in his catagory and "best of show" at the Columbus Teddy Bear Fair in 1995. It was the first show I'd gone to, and I was absolutely on cloud nine!
And this bear is my most recent winner (2005 Toby Industry's Choice and Public's Choice awards)
What beautiful and inspirational bears and other critters.
