Hi Laurie,
I never got money befor with international money order , but I know, how it works.
You will get a     crossed cheque and you let credit it to your account.

And the cheque should be insured on the way to you!
So it's very easy handling  bear_original

Hope I could help!  bear_flower

Hi Laurie, This person is`nt asking to send you a money order for more that the bear is worth are they? I had this before saying they would send me a money order and could I send the extra back in cash with the bear. Another scam ,they said they wanted me to send the bear to Africa for them, this was a person in the USA too. I think this is what they call money laundering.
I told them in the end that I only take paypal.
I hope this is`nt the case with your customer, just thought i`d warn you.
good luck.

I had somebody pay via this method, and it would have cost me more to cash it than it was worth - so I threw it - be really careful  , I always stipulate Paypal only to international buyers, it's so much easier!!   I did have someone pay me in a cheque once from Canada, but it was in Pounds sterling so it was fine.   Maybe ask at your bank for advice?

Hope it all works out Laurie

Thanks for the advice.I had put on my ebay page that I only accept paypal from international buyers but the person who won the bear has said that she is having trouble with her paypal but she only has a feedback score of 10.I have now asked her again if there is any way she can sort her paypal out.Paypal is so much easier and I don't want the hassle of other payment methods really.Even though I haven't been selling bears for very long it is surprising how awkward it can be to get people to part with their money bear_sad

Laurie, if you stated PayPal only in your auction then that's all you should accept from her. Did she only say about the e cheque AFTER the auction had finished? If she did, I personally think that is rude - she knew your payment details before she bid!

Laurie, ask your buyer for their paypal address so you can send them a request for the money and you can then do it in pounds sterlings. If you go into your paypal you can click on "request payment"

Hope this helps.

Gemma I  did have it stated in the auction paypal only and she did ask me about the cheque afterwards.
Thanks for the advice Vicki-I have contacted her to see if she will pay this way.

Thanks for the advice Ellen.I think I will keep away from these imo's and if she doesn't pay by paypal in the week that you are allowed with ebay I will offer the bear to other bidder if no luck there just relist her.

An international money order is a cheque written by the post office. Not all countries  accept these.
An international bank cheque has quite a fee on it. In Australia it is something like $27. Pretty steep. And again not all banks in all countries accept these either.
Since you stipulated PAYPAL then that is all you should accept. Send her the Paypal invoice. I really cant see any legitimate reason why she would be having trouble with her account.  At one time it took five days for my bank to release the funds to PayPal. So now I keep money in my Paypal account. I wouldnt have known about the length of delay if I hadnt been told about it by my supplier.
Dont give an inch possum. Dont let them take advantage of you. OK. Stick to your guns. You have US for moral support. We're right behind you. bear_thumb oooopss! sounds like I'm declaring war, doesnt it?  bear_grin

Hi Laurie,
Before I accepted credit cards I accepted both Western union money transfers and Western union money transfers. I had to collect Western union money transfers from the travel agents so it was quite a car journey, sometimes the exchange rate was correct sometimes not, so I was out of pocket.  The sender had to add extra for the transaction too. With money orders, they have to add extra for the cost of the money order, these can be put in you business account.

Laurie..You can get them to send you a bankers draft in pounds sterling, which is as good as cash, I've had those with no problem and no charges. That way the buyers have to pay all the charges... Don't touch money orders with a bargepole...too expensive!!!

Thanks for all your advice.Luckily for me I said no to the money order as they sound more hassle than they are worth and within a few more days she had paid up through paypal so a happy ending after all.
