Had a terrible tooth ache last weekend, so got in to see the dentist on Monday,
and he said I had to have a root canal.  So my appt. was this morning and after being in the chair for close to 2 hours came home and got into bed and slept for 3 hours.  Still taking pain medication but keep waking up with that dull pain in my tooth.

Took another pain pill and waiting for it to start working so I can try and go back to sleep.
Have you ever noticed pain is always worse at night when you want to sleep!!

Oh Tami I hope that you can get some sleep .. there is nothing worse than being kept awake with pain. Then the next day you feel dreadful. Sending sleep vibes.

Yep..Been there ...two years ago..ended up with an abscess and an extraction..then I got vertigo which I still have now and then because the infection went into my ear.

I hate tooth problems...and consequently dentists because my problem was caused by my dentist. I now have a new dentist who I visit every 3 months..and, touch wood, all is well these days...

You have my every sympathy!!!!

Hang in there , been there also !! Had about 6 months of pain . First they did root canal on one tooth , then still pain so did the tooth in front of it , still pain then pulled the first tooth they did root canal on !!!! NOW BETTER !! Glad thats over, so I understand your pain

Oh Jodi, that is terrible.
This is about my 4th root canal. It has been awhile and I just didnt remember it hurting like this after the canal. I do know you can loose the tooth and the root canal sometimes does not take! OUCH...............$1,000 down the drain.
He did tell me I would experience pain in the tooth for the next few days.
I'm just hoping it will go away soon!

I have had these problems with my teeth before and they are an absolute nightmare.Sometimes your teeth can hurt for a few days because it is tender with all the drilling etc.The only other problem could be with an abcess in that tooth because if they don't put antibiotics into the tooth when they are sorting it out the infection won't go away.Sometimes they give you antibiotics to take orally but I think that they prefer to put them in the tooth.It is also like Jodi has said where you hope that they have got the right tooth.I hope your problem gets sorted out as I know how horrible it can be.If it isn't any better in a few more days I would contact your dentist again.

Yes there will be pain for a while , just hang in there. Sorry you have to go through this.Keep using pain meds till you feel better.I will lift a prayer.

Hi Tami,

I have had two root canals and they are really painful.
I really hope that the pain relief is helping and you are able to get some sleep tonight.

Awww Honey, I am so sorry, for your pain and your lack of sleep.

As an old insomniac i can relate....but i do get to work on my gollies...

I hope you feel better really soon....

Thanks everyone, it is day 3 after the root canal, still taking some pain meds,
but it is getting better everyday.

Did sleep through the night last night so that was wonderful.
I'm hanging in there!!!
