James has made his first bear at the age of 4 1/2!!!!
Just over a week ago my mum took Will to hers for the night so James and I could spend 'quality' time together, 1 on 1. We started the afternoon doing painting , then after he was bored with that I suggested making a bear....his eyes lit up and he screamed 'yes mummy yes'.
So....he helped me draw a basic 2 part pattern, chose the fabric (of course it HAD to be orange! ) then he drew around the template, helped me cut it out then pin it together. He patiently watched as a sewed it together on the sewing machine, then he turned it himself using my forceps and decided where the eyes and nose should go. He then stuffed it (which is why it's a bit lumpy!! ) - he even stitched the mouth on himself........
Here is 'Bananas Teddy' (don't ask! ). This picture was taken very quickly on the morning after 'Bananas Teddy' was born - I didn't realise James had a dribble of milk on his chin from his breakfast!!!
  Well done James and Gemma, he looks so proud of his bear, and rightfully so...What a good Mommy!!!

James and Bananas Teddy are both absolutely darling!
This is just the sweetest thing! I love James's face--he's so darling and so proud of his wee bear. Love the bear, too!
I love, love, love the way you spent the afternoon with your handsome young boy. His bear is outstanding!! Thank you for sharing a picture of your son and his "Bananas Teddy." You are truly blessed.

The bear is great and you two look fantastic together. Both cute as can be.
Gemma, this is sooooo cool. When I have kids, I want to find the time to give them lots of precious memories - just like you do. I´m pretty sure James will love and cherish his little friend forever.
I remember when my Mom made a sheep for me. It was machone sewn, on all fours, all white..simply great. Except I´ve always been a dog lover, so to me it was a big white sheep dog:-) And no matter how many times they told me it was a SHEEP, it stayed a DOG. :-))
P.S. Gemma, you´ve got some serious competition now?:-)
Great Job!!
Reminds me of the time I taught a bunch of girl scouts how to make teddies to give to the local firefighters.
They were just as adorable as James's
What a super project!
Oh what a cute orange bear and
your boy is very handsome !!!
Great job James and Gemma !!!
Well done James! (and Gemma too! ) Not only a first bear, but an original ooak!  I think Bananas Teddy is awesome. And so wonderful to do something like this with your son. I'm sure it will become a favorite memory for both of you.
Bananas Teddies, hmmm.... could it be the inspiratin for a whole new line of bears for you Gemma?
That bear is so cute!!!
WELL DONE JAMES!!!
