I have been trying to take some pics for printing. I think bear_wacko I finally have my light tent and lights set up. Now I go to my photo software(Jasc Paintshop). How do you crop and resize to get 4x6 prints??? When I try to resize after cropping I can't figure out how to get the proper size so the prints don't come out with a head cut off but come out the size I want. My camera has a setting to match the 3:2 ratio for photo printing but can be set to 6M,3M, or 2M.

Hi Nancy!  I can't think of anyone here who uses Jasc Paintshop right off the top of my head, although I'm sure there are plenty of people who use this popular program.

Whenever I have trouble in Photoshop, I find that the quickest and easiest way to find answers BY FAR is to go to a search engine like GOOGLE and type in keywords.  In your case, I might type in, "Jasc Paintshop cropping tutorial" or words to that effect.  Play around with the keywords you select a bit and see what pops up.

I usually find a HUGE number of helpful how-to information whenever I do this for a Photoshop query.  Often the best answers are found on forums like this one where they discuss these programs!  An dsometimes there are entire websites devoted to tutorial after tutorial.  Just browse the tut index for what you need.

Just thought I'd mention this option in case you get few or no replies here, for no reason other than I'm not sure how many people who frequent THIS forum use that particular program.

Good luck!

Nancy, In jasc paintshop, to crop to say a 4 x 6 inch size, you select the crop tool, then in the box where it says width, heighth, and units, you type in 4 for width, 6 for heighth, and inches for units. a 4 x 6 box will appear on your picture that you can move around with your cursor. If the box is not large enough and cuts off some of your photo, make sure that the box to the right of the units, that says maintain aspect ratio, is checked. Check it if it isn't, then click on one of the corners of the box and stretch it to fit the part you want to crop. Then click the check mark to crop it. It will crop it at 4 x 6.

The only place I can find where I can set the size and units is "Canvas size" under image. It doesn't generate a box. If I use the crop tool I can crop but not in the correct size. I know it's probably something simple but I get so frustrated with programs I am almost in tears. I looked up some tutorials but they just confused me more. The help in the program is not helpful at all.

I use Jasc Paint Shop. too.  I click on the crop tool.  There is a preset button the tool bar. Use the down arrow to view and select the preset size you want.  you can also just type it in like Sonya does.  The box for cropping is then the right size.  Just move it around so that the picture is cropped where you want it.   I found Jasc has great tutorials.  Hope this helps.
