I'm sitting here feeling so incredibly inept with my knowledge of the computer.
I thought by cutting and pasting I could submit information needed for an upcoming online show. I've spent hours on this.....only to find out the information cannot be retrieved as I sent it. I'm so frustrated!
What it boils down to is that I don't have the correct format or program or whatever. Even if I ran out and bought the program, I'd have to learn it before I could even use it.
I feel like such a goober!
Goober hugs,
Aleta
Don't feel bad, dear Aleta....I'm right there with you. More often than not I want to pick this stupid thing up and toss it right out the window.
We can sit in the back of class and make spitwads, paper airplanes and sneak out of class for a latte and shopping.

This is what I get when I just jump in with both feet.....and think later.
Boo hoo hugs,
Aleta
Well Aleta, join the club.....It took me over two months to figure out how to post pictures, $175 to get photoshop and lessons to use it....let's see what else? Well....the list goes on and on....Don't feel bad, you have talent in making bears, others have talents with computers. When it is late at night, you can snuggle with a bear, the computer people, well....
Michelle
Oh Sweetie, don't cry. I 'm sorry...I do understand your frustration. Go give Max a snuggle, let it sit for a bit and go back to it later. Perhaps by then someone here will know how to help.
Hugs,
Shantell

Thank you for your encouragment Shantell and Michelle. It's comforting, in an odd sort of way, to know there are others out there that struggle with the computer as I do.
Warmest hugs,
Aleta
Don't feel too bad Aleta, I think these computers have a mind of their own anyway.
Just when you think you have figured them out they chuck a wobbly and go nuts on you.
I thought I would be smart and upgrade my brouser, only to find that my favorite programs didn't want to work.
Computers are so frustrating. but then when you do manage to achieve something on them it makes it all the more worthwhile.
Sometimes looking at doing things from a diferent angle can help.
Maybe if you put down exactly what you were trying to do one of our computer buffs could help you.
I have lamented on this very point with friends. What I realised was that as adults we dont give our selves the time to learn. We expect ourselves to be adept at all we try first time around. Some like me dont expect that much. I only expect to be proficent second time round.
When I bought my new mobile this year I asked the sales person for a phone I dint have to relearn. Because I didnt have the time to be bothered with it. The poor wee thing only has two functions. talk and text. plus it has my phone number on the screen so I wont forget it.
Then I was sooooo excited about my new camera. Finally I was going to be able to get good shots of my critters. But there is so many functions on this thing with only icons for instructions that I just look at the b@##^& thing dumbfounded  . and I'm just revealing this to make you feel better.................I'm a nap person

I must say, having a son-in-law who does IT for Gaylord Entertainment Center in Nashville certainly helps! ! ! When I call him, he answers, "Tech Department".
He's helping me set up a website now.
We love ya to pieces, and I think just about everyone of us can relate to your computer mishaps and frustrations.
I think its pretty darn remarkable that so many of us older gals here are able to do as much as we do on the computer.
Aletea, when you were a sweet little girl watching Spin and Marty on tv in black and white, no less, did you ever imagine you would be such a great artist, and bring love in the form of teddies to the world one bear at a time?
What if you printed up the form, filled it out, and then scanned it in to email it to the people it needs to go to?
When all else fails a pen and ink are mighty powerful little tools
The gollies and I are cheering you on-you'll figure it out!
gollyslobberkisses to make you feel better, even if you do have to bathe and wash your hair after one

The same exact thing happened to me not too long ago....boy was I frustrated
I almost gave up ....instead I took a break, had something "bad" to eat and then tried again with another plan. It all works out in the end, no worries. I'm sure whatever you're working on will be gorgeous and fantastic in the end!!!

Oh, Aleta, I can SO sympathize with you. I didn't even know how to turn a computer on 5 years ago and every day I feel I am struggling to catch up with the modern ages! I'm really quite proud of what I have learned in that time but it is still SO FRUSTRATING that there is so much that I don't know how to do - or else once I think I do know, it doesn't work the next time! Wishing you lots of luck in figuring out a way to solve your problem!
Aleta, I know exactly what you are talking about. My "wanting to do" is soooooo ahead of my "ability to do", when it comes to the computer. I think you know what I mean! .
I'm with Patty - sons-in-law with technical ability are absolutely awesome creatures indeed LOL! I watch my 2 1/2 year old grandson manipulate his DVD player and I am in awe - he must have inherited that gene from daddy LOL! I must say though, I hooked up my VCR (yes, I still use a VCR) to my satelite box by all by myself yesterday, and felt like I climbed Mount Everest.
Don't feel badly, Aleta - just think of all the things we can do and like Edie, it amazes me considering four years ago I wouldn't touch a computer. Now I love it. Chin up and maybe you can call these people and do it on the phone.
hugs,
Brenda
I am in the same boat Aleta .... I wished I knew how to work on my website but I don't know where to
even start.
You are not a goober and I know how frustratiing it is when things don't work out the way you hoped they would.
Good luck and hope that you have someone that can give you a hand with the problem.
Hugs
Carolyn

its good to know there are others out there that struggle with the computer as I do.
Warmest hugs,
Aleta
Boy - you got that right.
Failing that - borrow the neighbours great grand child - they'll get it without knowing what they're even doing. Its so dispiriting. I do hope you get your problem solved. Pen Pen will know I bet.........
Aleta -
I understand. Even those of us that are techno geeks have problems from time to time. My Directv receiver decided that it no longer wanted to receive my local channels. I did everything that I could to fix it but it wouldn't fix. I finally call Directv and explained my problem to 3 different people I got tech support and it really was a simple fix, but still it can be frustrating.
I find that taking a few moments and walking away from the computer and doing something else helps. I also find that starting over fresh helps to.
I hope that you are able to solve your problem and everything works out.

I've used this graphic before and it pretty much sums up how I feel about my computer...
Aleta... have you thought of providing a few more details for us? Maybe someone here has a two minute solution for you! If you told us what needed fixing and I know how to fix it, I'll do so in a heartbeat.
For you:
Computer goober here!
A big Thank You to Kelly for offering to help me with my mess yesterday. As it turns out, my son has come to my rescue. I don't have WORD on my computer.....only Works. The format sent to me was in WORD. Justin said I was cutting and pasting properly, I just wasn't putting it into a file and then sending it correctly. I was cutting and pasting into an e-mail. I should have been cutting and pasting into a separate file and then sending it along as an attachment. At least, that's where we are at this point. So, I sent out a test run of that concept last night. Fingers crossed! I probably won't know though if it's right until this afternoon. If it doesn't work Justin has offered to bring his computer over (he has WORD on his) and we'll get everything done on his computer. The downside of that? I have to download and upload and resize 36 pictures and retype all the information AGAIN.
In theory, an online show is a great idea for those who know what they're doing on the computer. For me however, I'm spending more time on the computer than I would have preparing for a live show, which in turn, means less time spent in the studio.
On the up side though, I've learned something I didn't know how to do before. That, as Martha would say, is a good thing. :)
Thank you all for being so incredibly supportive!!
Warmest and biggest bear hugs,
Aleta
Don't you find that the major task is deciding what the flipping problem is to begin with. Then you can research how to fix it.
So often I don't know what's wrong except that it won't do what I want it to do.
Experts laughingly say - follow the on-screen instructions. That's fine - so long as you can make sense of the on-screen stuff in the first place.
These things are sent to try us- and they surely do..............................
I am now officially a little less of a goober!!!   The test run worked! Hallelujah petunia!! Now all I have to do is send the "real deal".
I think all the support you gals gave me did the trick.....and of course, the gollyslobberkisses!!
Warmest bear hugs,
Aleta
Oh Toby,
Gollyslobberkisses are rare and dolled out judiciously, always with the caveat that you need to shower after. But gollies can be so enthusiastic....
your time will come, I am sure!
gollyhugs
