Has anyone sealed a branch so that it remained looking natural (not shiny varnished) but didn't fall apart (bark separating) later or the twigs easily broken off? I have a cub perched in a tree but before I sell it I need to know that it will hold up in the long run.

The branches have been drying for 6 months so I know there won't be a problem of sealing in unwanted moisture.

TIA

I have actually used a spray sealer in a matte finish. Did this to a 'walking stick' for my hiker bear about 5 years ago and it looks just the same as it did then. The spray really didn't even darken the wood once dry, it hasn't crackled and, although not much weight or play is done with this twig, it hasn't cracked or broken. No shine either... a very natural look.

What I used was "American Accents by Rust-oleum .. Clear Top Coat .. Matte Protective Crystal Clear Finish".
