I am planning to buy some lock line to use for armatures...couple questions....for an 8" bear what size would work best? And do you really need the special pliers or is there some other way to cut the lock line and fit it into the joints?
Thanks in advance

Krista

I've not used it with joints, only for my non jointed bears.  Ooh, and I've not used it for a bear that small.

As for needing the pliers, if you're really strong, you can turn the pieces, and get them to pop off.  I think someone on here used to heat a nail (held with pliers) and then used that to melt a hole through the plastic to get it to fit over the bolt for their locknut joint.

Best of luck!  I'm sure it will be worth the extra effort with the poseability afterwards.   bear_thumb

Thanks Debbie, so I could just get hubby to break off what I need and get him to fit it into the y and t connectors? I said joints above but meant the connectors

Oh yes, your hubby should be able to do that for you!  I mean, I was able to pop them apart pretty easily, and accidentally popped off a section too much.  Brute strength...and a little bit of me being peeved  bear_angry   and I got it to pop back together.  I should think for a guy it would be easy.

Oh my gosh... I highly recommend the pliers!!!!   I needed "brute strength" even WITH them!  course I'm not a guy LOL!  But what if you want to get some done and he isn't around?

Not sure if the 1/4" is small enough for an 8" bear.... I think Judi mentioned something a while back that CR Crafts has some smaller ones (different brand though)

Krista,
I would recommend the blue loc-line over the white doll armature.  I have used both and it may be me being a brute with the bears and critters but each time I have used the white doll armature I end up breaking it.  And it usually breaks after the critter is completed.  I have had heads go flying across the room.  For an 8" bear you would use the 1/4 inch blue loc-line.  I would recommend that you get the pliers also.  Have fun with this, it adds so much to the bears!
