I haven't bought the book yet that everyone raves about (101 Bears to Make) or taken the on-line class ... I've done as much sculpting as I dare (without knowing what I'm doing) in the eye area ... but for the life of me, I cannot imagine how sculpting the mouth area will work.

Are you sure that the mouth thread is going to lay in the sculpted area?  How do I make sure it's not crooked, lopsided, etc.?  Hmm ...  a015.gif

Leaving here to search Ebay I guess for 101 Bears.

Hey Deb,

I have the book and I refer to it all the time.  I'm also currently registered for her online class Extreme Sculpting which I started right before my surgery and so far it's really informational.   Hopefully, I can see well enough in a couple weeks to finish it up.  I also did her quickie classes on Noses...which was like "DUH"...why didn't I think of that...so I learned a few tricks.  The one very nice thing about her classes is you can print out the course or save it on your computer for later reference...which is what I'm going to do.

It's worth it...

Deb I have been making bears for years but just got back into it recently. I am that rubbish at doing mouths, I have stopped doing them! I know you can put pins in, then measure and even wrap the thread around to see how it looks. You are right its the sculpting bit..hmm. Shelli knows her stuff as you can see in her bears. I think its all in the pulling of that thread to shape it. Also fur direction and scissor sculpting come into play. I swear there is an old thread on this?
I think I will go have a lie down to recover from all that I have to learn, then get my 101 bear book out to have a think. Not too hard as it is the weekend after all.;)
