Carolyn Green's visit in Le Mans was a good opportunity to take new shots in Le Mans old town.
Just enjoy!
Hidden behind its magnificent Roman wall, the Plantagenet town is an unalloyed jewel of mediaeval architecture. Most of the houses are from the 15th century, the Renaissance and the 18th century.
To begin, here are two photos of the city walls (ramparts) or I should stay what's left of them. Notice the geometric motives on them. The walls are 1300 meters long and has 11 towers.
To continue, many photos of typical houses. Some of them are famous for their sculpted pillars.
The coming photo is of the house of Adam and Eve (because of it's sculpted panels about Adam and Eve):
This house is named house with the keys pillar (guess why???? ):
Find the crayfish!
This house is the house with the green (it isn't green anymore) pillar :
This house is the house with the red pillar :
Find the monkey!
Isn't that cute?
And the cathedral:

Love, love these photos! Such a delightful little tour of old town Le Mans. I forget sometimes that Europe has a much longer history than the US and the architecture is so astounding! Thanks so much for sharing.
Thanks so much Sophie!! I love the photos you take of Europe.
Sue Ann, in Australia buildings that are 100 yrs old are something to marvel at We are really young here, so I love seeing all the old buildings too!
