Dear friends,

Sorry for being so long to post the next parts of my report.

There are many interesting things to see in the towns next to Ironbridge.
I already presented you Coalbrookdale and its iron industry.

In Coalport, there is one thing not to miss, with some relationship with iron industry.
In the past, to carry quicker coal to its destination, people constructed a tunnel.
This tunnel was then forgotten, hidden in someone's home.
Recently, some archaeologists remembered this tunnel and asked permission to visit it to the owners of the house. They had heared a legend about an existing tunnel with natural tar in it.

They could notice the tunnel was real and was still okay.

Nowadays, it is possible to visit that tunnel but we cannot go all along it, as it is partly flooded. They installed pumps to dry it when needed to cross it.

Here are a few pictures of the tunnel and of tar coming from between stones.

After visiting the tar tunnel we walked to Jackfield. The weather was not rainy so this was a pleasure to have a short walk.
We first stopped in the actual Maw Craft Center, which is located in the buildings of the Maw tile factory.
Now there are lots of workshops of all kind of arts like pottery, candles, sundials, paints, etc...

Then we went to Jackfield tile museum in another tile factory, still in activity.
I loved it soooo much! All they showed in the museum was amazing.
We first went into a room where they was the history of the factory and then we moved into show rooms with samples of all what they made in the past.
Some rooms were like ancient bucheries, pubs, bathrooms, underground stations, etc...

Here are a few of my favorite pictures from the museum :

The road to reach the factory was very bumpy in its beginning and then, when getting closer, we saw strange things on it : we have no idea what they wooden pannels are made for!

Here you are!

I hope you enjoyed it.

Next report will be about my visit in Yorkshire.

Beary hugs,
Sophie.
