I just got off the phone with Alex Wilson who is assisting Mark McKay with the production of the Hunt Valley, MD show. His words were "The show will go on!"

The Embassy Suites hotel will be closed for quite a while in order for repairs to be done. HOWEVER, the Marriott Hotel which is right around the corner has aggreed to host the show and offer rooms to artists who were booked at the Embassy. He said that the Embassy will be calling those with room reservations to confirm their new reservation at the Marriott once that is taken care of.

There will be folks at the enterance to the Embassy directing collectors over to the Marriott and he'll be making additional signage so we won't be missed! Alex and Mark really seem to be covering all the bases to ensure that we still have a successful show. The arrangements all sound great, especially given the circumstances.

So the new location is:

Wow!  Kudos to the promoters, they've done a fantastic job dealing with a *big* last-minute problem!  (Deleted the part where I referred to the wrong Marriott, lest anyone get confused.)  Really looking forward to attending

It's the Marriott as stated above... NOT the Courtyard. Both hotels are within walking distance of the Embassy Suites but the Marriott is the one with event space big enough for the show.

Cool beans!!

So glad to hear that this is all working out!!  I was a little concerned when I called the hotel myself on Thursday about my reservation and they said they were "closed indefinitely".  But they also said they were working to move all events and guests to new hotels, so looks like they all did great!

So the hotels are taking care of the reservation exchange and we don't need to make that call at this point?  Thanks a bunch!!

Chrissi -

Yes, Embassay is going to make the room reservations at the Marriott for us then call us with new confirmation numbers. Marriott is going to honor the same rate even though their's are higher. They'll bill Embassay for the difference and it will be applied to Embassay's insurance claim.

Alex will be calling everyone participating in the show to fill you in on the details.  bear_original

I'm not involved in this but have been quietly following the story.  I'm SO GLAD for all of you that the show will go on.  WOW, about the job the promoters have done to make such a giant last minute switcheroo.  I hope it's just a great show for all.  PLEASE take and post pictures.

Yay, you guys!  bear_flower

I know it. I don't think any show promoter..... in all the 'glitches' they anticipate.... adds 'if roof falls in' to their list of back up plans! As Mark McKay said : "Of all the hotels in all of the US it had to be THIS one!" He and Alex have really pulled it together though. (I'd have just pulled my hair out!)

Lots of pictures is a promise, Shel!  :photo:

Kudos to Alex and Mark (and to the Marriott across the street!).  I'm sewing bears as fast as I can.  See you all there!

We have known Mark and Sue McKay and Alex and Janet Wilson for quite a few years and it doesn't surprise me that they have been able to pull other arrangements out of a hat.  Mark knows his stuff (he's a special events planner in his regular job) and if anyone would or could have found a suitable solution, he is definitely the one to do it.

I'm so glad this show will go on for all of the exhibitors and customers.  You've all worked hard to get ready and it's awesome that you will have a place to showcase your work.  Remember - we want LOTS of pictures.

                                          hugs,
