I know this works.........I have seen them do it....................
Yep cats are clever, I've often seen my neighbours cat open the gate and let the dog out. They now have to lock it with a bolt....I wonder how long that will take the cat to work out! Luckily the dog would only come over and push his nose under my garden gate to look for my dogs and not wander off. He's just went back into his garden and do his own thing once he couldn't find Chunks or Lucy in my garden.
Hugs, Jane.
They can be so clever can't they
Our Irish Setter can do the same thing but it wasn't fun when he used to let our indoor cats out into the back garden and send everyone into a panick trying to find them. The back door now remains locked all the time!!!

Clever cat!!! I see the deadbolt is still firmly locked in place.
We didn't have lever doors back then in the US, but I lived in Germany for a year and my young German kitty would jump up, hang on the lever and push off from the door frame to open the heavy door. We'd wake up to find he and his cat buddies had a party in the kitchen, there was cat kibble everywhere
