I have a piece of sparse matted mohair - 325S/CM I think. I keep looking at it trying to determine which way the nap runs. Is there even a nap on this kind of fur?? If not, does it matter which way I lay out the pieces?

Hi, Nancy.  I have several pieces of 325S/CM, and though it's not as easy to tell which way the nap goes on this mohair, I can see some difference in the way the fur "behaves" at each of the edges.  Hold up a piece of your fur with the back facing you.  One of the edges should have more hair showing than the others.  This edge should be at the bottom when you start marking your pattern pieces.  The grain runs up/down parallel with the selvedge (as you probably know).  If a scan of my fur will help, I will be glad to put one up for you.  Hope this is clearer than mud.  bear_wacko  bear_wacko  bear_wacko

Thanks Sue Ann, that helped a lot. I kept looking at and looking at it and couldn't decide. When I turn it over and look at it from the back I can definitely see an edge that shows more fur.
