A fine Friday to you!!
I normally post BIP's on my blog these days but I thought you might find it interesting to see what new mixed media/assemblage art piece I've been working on. She's not finished yet. She still needs airbrushing, her eyes set in, a coat of beeswax on her canvas body, her skirt and ribbon applied, and her head and limbs attached, but you get the idea. All her parts will be movable. She has a three inch cotter pin in her neck and her limbs are a combination of wobble joints and eye screws. Really different huh? Not your traditional bear....she'll hang on the wall!!
Warmest bear hugs,

Aleta, what fun this bear is! Very clever! I hope you'll share pictures of her when she's finished. About how big is she?
Hi there girlie!
She'll be at or just a skosh under 9 inches tall when she's finished. Her body is a 4 x 4x 1 1/4" chunky canvas. It had to be a thick canvas to allow for a dimensional bear head. In the picture, the canvas is laying atop the cotter pin so it looks like her head is set way back. Once she's all put together she'll look more normal. Normal? ha!!
Hugs and hugs,
Aleta
Oh, neat! I have seen those chunky canvases. What a fun thing to do with a chunky canvas! Definitely artsy and an adorable wee lass. I love the fun creations you come up with, my dear!
Bear hugs,

She is SO great Aleta.
Love her - please make more.
What a fantastic idea I think she is lovely

Bless you bunches for all the kind thoughts!! I'm really having fun with this piece....even though it's taking a bit of time to complete with all the layers and drying times. I think these will be best made in batches of six or so to compensate for all the waiting between steps. Oiy!
Thank you again!!
Warmest bear hugs,
Aleta
Clever, clever clever!! You are so creative Aleta!
I had been thinking of a mm bear with an altoids tin for a body since I saw a doll like that in Doll Crafter (I think)
I have visions of a wedding with spongebob
Juliet,
I realise not everyone likes mixed media/assemblage. I appreciate your post! Thank you.

Finally finished! What you can't see in the picture is the aging, beeswax or finished sides. I'm really pleased with how it turned out. There will be more!
Hugs,

Oh Aleta...This little bear is so adorable. I just love it! Such a clever idea.
Hugs, Nancy
Hi Christine!
Thank you for keeping tabs on the progression of this little gal. I'll post a better picture (I hope!) on my blog in the next day or so. No, she doesn't have a name yet. I'm still deciding whether I'll keep her or not. Too many decisions of late. (sigh)
Hugs and hugs,

She turned out very cute, Aleta. Of course, I knew she would.
