PottersHouse BearsI am wanting to try making a bear with poseable arms and legs. Does anyone have suggestions as to where I might find help with this. I have never ventured into this area. I think I have an idea how it is done, but I'm not sure. I would appreciate any and all help I can get.

If you look above this post there is a drop down menu Called Library with a little yellow guy waving his arms. If you click the menu and the 3rd one down saying Armature, it will give you a list of past topics talking about armature.
I have never used armature but if I want to find anything, I always check the Library.
If some of your questions aren't answered in the library just post here some ddifficulties you are having.

Hi Millie..I use a copper wire which I attach to terminal clips ( I think that's what they are called) they have a washer attached to a plastic clip into which you stick the end of the wire and then I have a tool which crimps the clip so it holds the wire firmly. One thing I did learn that is worth knowing...apparently you should not twist the wire as it weakens it...so now I do a double length of wire in the limb but I keep it straight..I cover it with a kind rubberised bandage my sister got me once...it clings to itself and needs no stitching...you can get it from chemists.
Works for me anyway.
Benson BearsHi Millie, I've used the same technique as jenny and all the supplies should be available from an electrical supply store (one the tradies use) The clips are called crimp lugs and you should try to get solid core copper wire. You can make the armature any length you like rather than being dictated by what's available commercially. The loop in the crimp lug fits over your joint pin or bolt and should sit nice and flat against the disc if you put it on the right way round. Have fun and remember don't stuff too tightly around the armature or it won't work.
