OK - here's Torngasuk. a smaller, "refined" (!) version of the one I did for the "out of the comfort zone"challenge.........see - challenges are REALLY worthwhile! He's made from my all-time favourite Japanese SILK fabric with needle felted paw pads.
And I've said it before - you guys are the BEST - thank you so much for all your kind comments........being able to share excitement like this makes it HEAPS better!
Oh - ELLEN - drops and stroopwafels are great...........but please - NO Salmiak!!!!
big huggies to you all
Maria
What's a TITA?
Hi Wendy............its a Tokyo International Teddy award (I think!)..........means the bear has to be sent off to Japan for AGES.........at least he's quite small!

)
A
congratulations Maria, well done.
HUgs, Jane.
I too think more people should quote "The Jabberwocky"
What's a Jabberwocky?
A wonderful nonsense poem, Wendy...........the Monty Python team even made a film of it.............
I was just thinking - maybe we should have a Jabberwocky challenge some time - really free rein for imagination there, and I'd love to see peoples take on the Worple sword.............and lots of opportunity for teeth and claws.............

Maria
Congratulations Maria! You are a competition supremo!!!!!
By the way, 'Jabberwocky' is one of my favourite poems!
JABBERWOCKY
by Lewis Carroll
(from Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There, 1872)
`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"
He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought --
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.
And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!
One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.
"And, has thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
He chortled in his joy.
`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
What a fun bear challenge it could be!
Oh - well done, Paula..........I had just googled it and was trying to figure out how to transfer it to here! Not much good at this technical stuff...............
and yes -it would be HUGE fun as a challenge.
And many thanks everyone for the congrats............but I'm sure there will be more TTers on the list...........they're probably still asleep!
big huggies

I too got a mail this morning, and Rose, who is finalist for URSA, also received a TITA nomination...hurray !!
I got so many compliments for Rose, and she is already reserved. Before she goes to her final home, she needs to do some traveling to Japan first.
Hugs,
Berta
Wonderful news, Maria. Big Congratulations!
Yay, BERTA - congratulations to you too    .............I've been sitting here WONDERING where you were - you had to have a nomination too!
Don't you just wish you could go along with your bear to Japan, even for a short while, as it's "minder"? It's a good life for these little bears isn't it - swanning round Japan for 6 months..............

Oh, Maria . . . what a terrific polar - very natural!! Big, huge congratulations for your honor!
I love Jabberwocky and associate it with "Alice in Wonderland" - although I know it is a variation of the original Lewis Carroll story.
I LOVE him Maria! He is adorable. Best of luck to you.
Congratulations Maria
Laurie
Thanks for the poem Paula. Though it leaves me none the wiser
Torngusak better whatch out for that Vorpel sword, laying with his butt so exposed
Huge thanks, again, everyone............ it's so nice to be able to share the excitement! Must admit to being a smidgin jealous of the little bear - a nice holiday swanning round Japan for him!
And WENDY - I've been reading around Jabberwocky - the slithy toves are really food for fantasy - a mixture of badger, lizard and corkscrew , which live on cheese!
big huggies to you all
Maria
