Hi everyone. I had a chart with the recomended lengths of mohair to use on whatever size bear but I can't find it anywhere. Does anyone have a copy of this chart?
I need to email it to a friend who's just starting out making bears. I know various lengths will give different finishes but the is a limit to what length can be used for whatever size bear. Karolyn, my friend, has just made her first bear which resembles ...as she said...something that looks what Garfield would have coughed up...a furball. I can't see where the head finishes and trhe body starts or find the limbs, it's just one big blob.

Scissor sculpting is all it needs :lol:I've been known to make one ot two of those once upon a time. They're cute when you get to see them under all the fluff
Jane... I've never seen such a chart. I'd love to see one though! I am so cautious when buying mohair for that very reason... I just don't know if it will work for the size range I'm contemplating for a specific bear. Of course, I'm sure that suggested lengths for suggested sizes would only be a guideline though. I've seen some lovely little puffball looking bears with fur that is probably considered much too long.... and some lovely velvety big bears with hair that is probably considered much too short! I think I usually use 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch pile mohair to make bears that are about 10-14 inches.
Beary truly yours,
