I finally got my Memory Bears done. (Dad passed away in Sept.) The plaid bear is made from a wool bathrobe, and belongs to me and a 2nd one for my sister. The one with the golf club shirt is for my brother, and the striped one is for my nephew. The bears are made from Dad's Golf Shirt (the front) and a dress shirt (back and snoot) instead of putting a ribbon on the bears, I cut off the collar from the golf shirts and sewed that on around the neck. The vest is a sweater my Mom made for Dad several years ago, and is lined with the dress shirt that matches bears back. I think I have only 1 more to make for my daughter, but there are 10 grandchildren....... who knows, once they see the bears I may have to make 8 more!

What a lovely idea making Memory bears for all your family, to remind you of your Dad and Grandad.
You have been really busy and wow if you have to make 8 more, will keep you occupied.

Wow Ellen, what a good idea. My Mum is a quilter and kept a pile of my Dad's jeans to turn into a quilt. But I think your clothing bears are so much nicer. I think I have one of his old shirts that I kept as "sentimental" Will haul it out of storage when we go back to SA and make myself a bear. Oh thank you, that is just too good.
My nephew saw his Mom's Plaid Bear and immediately said "That's Granddad's Robe" . Finally mailed out the 2 bears.....hopefully my brother and nephew like the shirt bears.
