I often find it interesting to see what bear artists move on to when they stop making bears. So many have such artistic talent that it's fun to see their abilities transform in some other medium.
I'm guessing many of you will remember bear artist Andrea Brewer. She made sweet little bears like these under the business name Brewer's Bruins.
She announced her retirement from bear making last year with plans to further her interest and skills in other fiber arts. She's incorporated her painting background and love for fiber into beautiful natural fiber felted panels... wall hangings and now hand bags too! I've been admiring her work on her website for a quite a while and now she has her pieces for sale on Etsy! Like this sweet little bear on a felted handbag:
If you want to see more her website is: www.hazeltreefibers.com
Her Etsy shop is: www.andreasfibers.etsy.com
You can still buy her bear patterns on such websites as Sassy Bears. I love her bears and hope she makes one now and again... they are just the sweetest. But I certainly understand the need to move on once the excitement is gone and other projects beckon!
Anyway, just thought I'd share with you what one of our fellow artists is up to now!
Great idea, Daphne . . . thanks much for the update on Andrea. Her current projects are really nice and show how multi-talented bearmakers can be.
Thank you for the link.
Thanks for the link Daphne - I had been wondering where Andrea had disappeared to. Lovely to see where Andrea's muse is taking her!
