I'm working on this new design. I'm starting from scratch with a clay sculpture that I'll use to draft the soft sculpture pattern.
Here's what I ask for from the client; essential measurements of the subject. (THis is not the dog I will be designing, just an illustration showing the client what measurements to take) The client mentioned that though he is a mongrel they thought this puppy was particularly intelligent, i.e. he came when called, to his name at 7 weeks and showed other signs. So forward to today- the sculpture was going well. I got the nose length right without even measuring just by looking at the photo and remembering other lessons in animal anatomy. THen I started measuring the other parts of the puppy's sculpture and comparing these to the client's measurements as I worked, most were close to what I expected. Then Whoa! The skull/brain pan! THe puppy's skull was huge for his size. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with intelligence but I suspect it might explain why he is so much smarter than his puppy siblings. I'll post a photo of the sculpture when it's finished, he is cute. I think I chose to create him because he reminds me, a little, of a Polar Bear

P.S. OK, I've been told by many dog owners that size of skull has NOTHING to do with intelligence! I agree ;-> I should have known that! But he still is an interesting model
Wow, can't wait to see your piccies Karen! Perhaps he is an anime pup
