Having become very interested in altered art and mixed media crafting, I wanted to check out how to create my own fabric paper, or paper fabric - guess it's all the same.  So, found a couple of "recipes" and tried one out today with this result.  Now, after getting a little experience, I have lots of other ideas and it's quite fun.  There is no end to what you can come up with, so if you are interested in this sort of thing - give it a try.  This piece has a few wrinkles in it, but those can be worked out when you use it.

Sue Ann, that looks very interesting. I have made paper before and that was fun. But paper fabric? Found this site http://arleebarr.squarespace.com/design … paper.html  Looks good. I want to play. I don't know if we are even talking about the same end product here. But I used to make a mush in a blender, and use that as a base. Then add layers of interesting things. I had a few frames with screen fabric on them so you could make them to different sizes.  And Wrinkles make things interesting don't you thing?????

Yes, Carolynn, the link you gave is one of the places that had a recipe.  I used this one, however:  http://www.squidoo.com/fanniefabricpaper  The artist - Fannie Narte - lives about 25 miles from me and her mixed media work is wonderful.  www.fannienarte.com

Wow, now got my brain going. Pity I have so many other things on the go. But please post some of the things you make. Would love to see. My Mom is a keen quilter and I have started again. Have a wall hanging in the process (long process) but wants to turn mixed media. SO I think the next project will have to be. This one I want to be able to wash cause it is going in the kitchen.

That's on my list to-do-one-of-these-days. Several years ago I bought some books and a paper making kit, but it's still unopened.

I wrote down all the steps from the tutorial Marlys and was pleasantly surprised to find I have everything that is needed. It all now sits on my work table ready to be played with when I return from the gym.
I really love this idea. It has so many possiblities.
