I think Kathy has done a wonderful job for the bear world.  This bumper publication is really well balanced and researched, beautifully written, non-patronising and I think it will be a delight for collectors.

I also love that it is very much geared towards collectors and has no patterns or bear making advice, because it makes it stand alone from other publications.  It's definitely a welcome addition to the current circle of teddy bear mags!

Let's hope it sells well, and fingers crossed we get TBS back in 2010...its available now at - www.amazon.co.uk..or W.H Smiths!

Well I went all excited down to my local WH Smiths and it was nowhere to be found! I asked at the desk and they couldn't even find it on their system  bear_sad  Whilst not the largest WH Smiths it is a reasonable sized one, so I came home a bit disappointed. I have therefore ordered it  direct from Warners Group Publications www.collectors-club-of-great-britain.co.uk  as there is no postage charge for deliveries within the UK, its £1.95 for other european countries and £2.95 for the rest of the world. There was also a space for additional comments on the order so I wrote about how much I missed Teddy Bear Scene and hoped they would bring it back again. I shall now be watching the letter box untill it lands on the mat bear_original

bear_thumb  I bought it and it is a lovely read.  bear_wub  although, I would have liked a free pattern, I must say - as that is what I loved about TBS in the first place.  bear_whistle

I couldn't agree with you more, Paula: an excellent publication, not only destined for bear artists, but also for all teddy bear enthusiasts (rich or poor).  I definitely think this is the way to go for a succesful teddy bear magazine : more attention to manufactured bears (e.g. Harrods Christmas bears), related beary arts (e.g. Michael Quinlyn-Nixon's teddy calendar), bear books, bear shops, etc.

I read this Teddy Bear Annual from front to cover and loved every page of it.  bear_thumb

Well done, Kathy !

Many thanks to everyone for their feedback about the Annual. My aim was to produce something that would appeal to existing enthusiasts but also have the potential to grab the attention of casual browsers and possibly turn them into collectors.

There is a good chance that I will be doing two similar publications for Warners next year, plus three specialist teddy supplements which will go out with Collect It, so there will definitely be more teddy content on the news stands in 2010.

Kathy

bear_sad   I want one...when will it get to the US?

Apparently the magazine isn't (yet?) available through Amazon.

I think it would be best to order your copy directly from the Collector's club of Great Britain :

http://www.collectors-club-of-great-bri … magazine=5

I already received my copy last week (sent to Belgium).

Peter......I'd agree with you - best to buy direct from the publisher  (www.collectors-club-of-great-britain.co.uk)! I got my copy on Thursday from Amazon UK, but a friend of mine in England discovered that her local WH Smith didn't have it and told her it would take 6 weeks or so to order it in (!) - Amazon told her is was no longer a "pre- order" and would take several weeks, so she has gone to the publisher. And it would appear that they are charging much less for post and packing......free within the UK, 1.95 pounds within Europe and 2.95 for the rest of the world.

From what I have found out it's not going to hit here in the US any time soon. Jane from doodlebears has 3 copies left that she is selling for a fundraiser. I bought mine from her and with postage it was a lot cheaper than from Amazon or the publishing co to the US.
You might try getting in touch with her if you want a copy.

I tried two different WH Smiths (Ashford and Hempstead Valley) last Saturday without success.

It might be worth letting the publishers know that some WH Smiths don't have the mag on their shelves yet Sue.
