With the days and nights so dark and dreary at the moment here in the UK, I'm finding my daylight desk lamp not quite enough for my eyes to see what I'm doing!!     I'm interested to find out what you all find effective - oh by the way I only work in my dining area so space is limited, well practically non existent actually, especially as I'm so messy!!!   bear_whistle

Hellooo Clare

Try a halogen lamp too as the light is lovely and bright - they are quite cheap to buy nowadays and come in all shapes and sizes and some are very posh, which i don't have any of but use a desk lamp with a halogen bulb.
Does this make sense? My mind is on food at the mo cos i joined up with Sue Ann and the other gals to shift my blobs this year - din dins time in a minute slobber slobber

Oh Penny I will, I'm back to work in the morning, so I'll pop to the wholesalers and see what they've got - brill, thanks!!   bear_thumb    I like my daylight lamp, but it's sooo dark here it's just not enough, and when I put the big light on, which is a great big black chandalier type thingy, it's like I'm sat in the middle of Blackpool illuminations - and everything looks a different colour than it really is!!!   bear_grin

Good luck with the New Years Resolution!!!   I should too really, but hey, I am what I am....... bear_whistle

I'm fortunate in that my sewing machine is in front of a huge window . . . and the sun shines a lot here.  But I wanted even more light, so I have an Ott floor lamp placed behind me with light coming from over my shoulder, then I installed a flourescent tube light on the overhang above my machine.  Love it!!

I have 3 full spectrum lights in the living room, and I can move them around to fullfuill any need.  The sewing room has that plus some lights from the auto store that can be moved around because of the stand they are on.

When I am just sewing I have them pointed up at the ceiling, or what passes for a ceiling..... bounces light all over the place.

I also have some Ott lights that can be moved around for different applications.

Is it possible to have too much light?

Well, when we have headaches I guess.......

It is so dark and dreary here....I will take all the light I can get my hands on.

i really want an OTT light. I've heard nothing but great things about them.
I just have a cheap walmart desk lamp. It's nice with a really long arm, so I can move it from my sculpting area to my sewing machine.

Sue Ann, Funny, I have never thought to have the light BEHIND my head. That would be much better. Great idea

I use the ceiling light; a standing lamp which has a sconce on the top and a single-bulb, directable-light at the midsection; and three halogen spotlight clip-on lamps which attach to the hutch directly above my workspace.  That means I've got four "regular" and three halogen bulbs lighting my work space every time I work.  And that doesn't even seem to be enough sometimes!
