Fun video of Hope playing with the little boy cub. Prior to this, she was babysitting both cubs while Lily groomed herself. Mom needs a little 'me' time! The little girl cub made her way back to Lily and is nursing in this video.
I saw this this morning. I can not believe the gentleness she shows towards the cubs. I bet she can not wait till they are big enough for some real play. Poor Hope she missed so much being alone and abandoned. I hope she has double the fun this year.

These bears don't cease to amaze me! I never imagined that a year-old cub could baby-sit, and do it well!
I saw the video of Hope gently tipping her head over to disentangle the cub whose claws had become trapped in her fur, instead of just swiping at it to pull/push it off.
Such a gentle Big Sister. Such patience she's instinctively learned on her own! I really give her credit!

Ted & Lucky are also a comical pr to watch, though I've never seen Honey live on camera.
Their story is amazing too.

So adorable!!!
No water in the den- yet!
Here's today's update -
Another video of Hope playing with the girl cub. Near the end, Lily tries to retrieve the cub so it can nurse, but Hope says, "No way"! She snaps at Lily and pushes her head away.
I loved this synopsis.
Noon - 2:30 PM Central time seems to be their most active time.
I had no idea that Hope was (allowed to? needed to?) nurse as well.
Bear.org certainly showed us the highlights from Sat; this is the most action I've seen in a 10 minute span.
TY, SueAnn!
Lily has been trying to retrieve the girl cub from Hope for the past 5 minutes; her one paw and head are no match for Hope, who is upside-down on her neck and can use all 4 paws and her mouth to deflect Mom's mouth & one paw. Comical but Lily never forces the issue - she unfailingly persistent but gentle.
Ah, now after an all out tussle with Lily, in which the cub was apparently way off out-of-sight to the right corner of the den, Hope was tired and quit, allowing the cub to come crawling over Hope back to Mom. They're trying to get settled down again, which leads me to this thought: if the den is this crowded with a yearling & 2 cubs, what will it be like next winter with Lily and 2 yearlings? I can't see 3 of them fitting into this space. Poor Lily just can't seem to find a comfortable position.
Hmmmm..... some low light growling-type sound now, along with the thrumming from nursing cubs. I wonder if it's Hope or Lily? and is it discomfort? or chagrin? or what?
The sound is magnified today. I know they were working on Ted & Lucky's microphone's yesterday; I wonder if this one also had some work done too... a little more difficult in that they're not in an enclosure.
Quite amazing, huh?! Such a fantastic opportunity to learn about the lives of bears.
They often choose a different den from one year to the next so Lily might pick a bigger den for next winter.
Another really cute video showing Hope with 'her' cub (Jason) and Lily caring for the girl twin (Faith).
Has it been established then that Hope always picks the male cub to pull away from Lily?
Nutzzz, I was hoping she was special-bonding all this while with her little sister.
Hope does seem to prefer the little boy, Bobbie, but she sometimes plays with Faith, too.
