Posts: 4I cut out a pattern last night and it wasn't until I was pinning everything together I noticed the side muzzle was longer than side face. I checked the pattern and the side muzzle is longer than the side face in terms of sewing them together. No reason is mentioned in the article. Can anyone shed some light on this or is there a reason for this? I've picked up other errors with the pattern such as it stated to cut 2 head gussets so maybe this is an error. Help would be appreciated 
Past Time BearsYou are correct . . . the muzzle is longer than the side head pattern piece. Maybe the muzzle piece has an added seam allowance and the head doesn't, but there is obviously a mistake there. Does the pattern state that the seam allowances are included or not? Whatever the problem is, the cutting lines of the two pieces will have to match, so either add seam allowance to the head or trim it from the muzzle.
I'm not sure there's an error, but Sue Ann has been doing this for longer than I have! 
If I were you, I'd cut out two pieces of paper towel or cheap fabric and try actually pinning and sewing them together. That might show you weather the pattern maker neglected to add a seam allowance to the side head.
If there is a problem, I'd put the pieces together (overlapping) to make a complete side head. Draw an outline of that and then split it properly - adding a seam allowance to both pieces.

Posts: 4Thanks everyone. There is nothing about seam allowances in any of the instructions. I think too because of the mistake with how many head gussets to cut out that this is a mistake too. Ill figure out something. I want to design my own bear but decided I'd practice a few more first... All for the learning.
Past Time BearsI did think of another reason that the two pieces don't match. If you join the muzzle to the head lining up the seams as if they were the same, there would be more fullness in the muzzle area (after sewing up all the seams) which would produce a "puffy" look when stuffing. Hope that make sense. Also, on the gusset, are the two pattern pieces full gussets, or do they look like "half" a gusset . . . so that when you put them together, they make one full gusset piece? If that is so, then it's a pattern for a center seam bear and not a mistake. Just trying to cover all the possibilities. Hope all of that verbiage makes sense to you!
Posts: 4There is 2 separate pieces for the gusset and one of them said to cut 2 which was definitely an error. I ended up sewing the side pieces together and without trimming and as I sewed down from the top I just continued to stitch around the corner. Looks alright so far but won't know until I stuff her.
Posts: 4Ie for the gusset there was a nose piece and a head piece. The head piece said to cut 2 and it was shaped like a normal gusset.
