Hello everyone,

I have had this teddy bear for about 22 years now I think. My Grandmother gave it to me one Christmas when I was around 5 years old. My russ bear does not have a name on it's tag. I have searched all over the internet and cannot find any other bears with no names. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!

(I am trying to attach an image hopefully it works)

On the Naming of Bears -- by T.S. Eliot (Improved by "Us Bears.")

The Naming of Bears is a difficult matter,
    It isn't just one of your holiday games;
You may think at first I'm as mad as a hatter
When I tell you, a Bear must have THREE DIFFERENT NAMES.
First of all, there's the name that the family use daily,
Such as Peter, Augustus, Alonzo or James,
Such as Victor or Jonathan, George or Bill Bailey--
All of them sensible everyday names.
There are fancier names if you think they sound sweeter,
Some for the gentlemen, some for the dames:
Such as Plato, Admetus, Electra, Demeter--
But all of them sensible everyday names.
But I tell you, a Bear needs a name that's particular,
A name that's peculiar, and more dignified,
Else how can he keep up his ears perpendicular,
Or fluff up his fur, or cherish his pride?
Of names of this kind, I can give you a quorum,
Such as Munkustrap, Quaxo, or Coricopat,
Such as Bombalurina, or else Jellylorum-
Names that never belong to more than one Bear.
But above and beyond there's still one name left over,
    And that is the name that you never will guess;
The name that no human research can discover--
But THE BEAR HIMSELF KNOWS, and will never confess.
When you notice a Bear in profound meditation,
The reason, I tell you, is always the same:
His mind is engaged in a rapt contemplation
Of the thought, of the thought, of the thought of his name:
    His ineffable effable
    Effanineffable
    Deep and inscrutable singular Name.

This might not help much, but it is an interesting link:
did-you-know-russ-teddy-bears-have-names

The tag you show has this : Item No 7593. That might help you is you ever come across a list of Russ Berrie bear models.

Hi there,

As far as we know, every Russ teddy bear does not have a name. In the photo you have provided, it appears that your teddy's main tush tag is intact.   If a name was issued, it would definitely be printed on the tag shown in your photo. Separate name tags  are not attached to Russ teddy bears.
With that being said, you have the opportunity to name your teddy whatever you like. bear_original

Hope this helps. bear_original
