I have eight guests coming for dinner tonight.  Costco was so lovely to prepare everything for me.  I just have to serve it!  I did manage to make an apple spice cake desert though!  And yes, I did it all by myself......from a recipe on the back of the box!  bear_laugh

Tomorrow my daughter and I drive 3 1/2 hours to Seattle to have our hair done.  Ridiculous, I know.  But hey...a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do!  We do this every 5 or 6 weeks.  It's our girls weekend away and the only weekend I don't work on bears...at all!  (gasp!)  bear_shocked   Sunday afternoon, after doing some shopping, we drive back home.

What is everyone else doing this weekend?  Does anyone else out there do anything so odd as to drive for hours to get their hair cut?  Am I the only idiotic one?  Probably.  bear_tongue

Warmest bear hugs for a grand weekend everyone!!

Oh Aleta, I envy you - my daughter and her family moved to Saskatchewan (two provinces away) two years ago.  I really miss them.  We used to do a lot together.

This weekend my husband and I are getting ready for a garage sale in a weeks time.  We have to go through the whole house and figure out what we can part with, and what price we want for it.  Maybe if I put a really high price on things, they won't sell, and I will get to bring them home again. He he.

Have a great time,
Jane P.

Scott and I are doing Nancy Jo's Doll show on Sat.  I will hopefully work on bears on Sunday after the car is unloaded and show stock put away.  I want to get some insulation put up on a couple of walls so I may try getting that done on Sunday before hubby leaves for work.  I don't like being on the ladder and doing stuff if there is no one home if I fall.  Have fun with your daughter, wish my son were closer so we could have play days.

Oooooh!  A garage sale!  They're a lot of work, aren't they?  I'd love to come to your garage sale.   Oh darn.  That's next weekend.  If it were this weekend it would just mean driving another couple of hours!!  I just now realized you were just a hop, skip and another hop, skip and a jump away!

Warmest hugs,

Wellllllll, i am going to start on making some new clothes for my Dollfie girl Megu - she is still as naked as the day she was born and is a bit annoyed at me for leaving her naked. i have drawn the pattern out for a snazzy pair of silk trousers i just need to get sewing now.

Then, i'm gonna clean out the fridge................have to do it, the mould is starting to smile and say HI PEN whenever i open the door
bear_shocked

Also i am going to generally clean up the house..............i hate doing this but it has got to be done sometimes. El Tel is working all weekend which means mr. money won't be on hand to take me shopping for any goodies and i'm broke as usual so housework it is!!!

Sounds like a great weekend for you Aleta.............you need to have a break and it sounds loverly to get away with the girls. Hairdo's are worth the effort travelling especially if it's a good cut...............don't get carried away and have a pink mohican done, i know what it's like once girls start daring each other!
bear_laugh  bear_tongue

Have a great weekend EVERYONE  bear_wub

the fridge mould says HI to you all too

Goodness!  You and Scott are always off doing shows!  How on earth do you do it?

As far as the ladder thing goes......smart girl!  We have a rule about things like that around here.  We use the buddy system for the pool as well.  There must always be another person outside if you're going to be in or around the pool.

Warmest hugs,

Mr. Money?  I love that!!  That so fits my husband!  He teases me that the only reason I bring him with me on my antique expiditions is to dole out the money.  Well, that's not the only reason I bring him along......someone has to carry all my goodies too!

Warmest hugs,

Aleta, I do that too (drive a long ways for whatever) I live in the middle of the desert and it is about 100 miles from the nearest bigger town) We have everything here.. but no mall and not the best of shopping. We have a walmart, kmart, mervyns, home depot and some other smaller shops. So we head out of town every few weeks. We actually drive 100 miles to get the dogs groomed! This weeknd I am cleaning.. yuk!

Renae, poor you! I hate having to get dressed up too.

For me it's the exact opposite this weekend, all my mail-ordered shrubs arrived this week so I'm spending the weekend planting them (plus mulching and weeding and more weeding). I'm hoping that I can convince my significant other to help me put up the bat house -- the wisteria that's supposed to climb up the bat house pole is already planted and is unhappy at being without support.

I am going to see my bears in a competition on Sunday.
I sent them in by mail, and as it's the second one I have entered I am very nervous for them.
I didn't get to see my bears in the first comp because it was in another State.
It's very cold here in Vic at the moment so the rest of the weekend I will be needlefelting and watching the footy  bear_ermm

Hi Aleta,

Good luck with your Dinner Party  - always great to gather around the table with friends.
Have fun with your daughter tomorrow...  isn't it  lovely going to the hairdresser.
I went to the hairdresser on Wednesday and it is always a treat to come out transformed, to when you went in!

I bought some plants that I am going to plant out tomorrow and we will be painting and wallpapering our bedroom.
It is the last room in the house that needs to be finished.
Also catching up on Teddy talk.

Have a fabulous weekend all!

Hugs

I started my weekend on Friday.  My 13 year old niece came on Thursday evening.  So Friday morning I took her to town and did some running around.  Friday evening we had 7 friends over for dinner (on the grill, it makes much less mess).  Today we have a wedding to attend and hopefully we will get to spend some time working with the horses.  I am really just supervising with the horses since last weekend's incident that left me with a sprained ankle.  Sunday is our laid back day.  Go to church and do nothing but eat and relax otherwise.

Weeeellll, the morning has been spent cleaning.  Groan.  I have a viewer for the house shortly and so have had to hide away all my clutter and make the place all sparkly.  I had hoped to spend the day turning a lovely lilac piece of mohair into a small bear, but that plan has now evaporated.

Later I think I shall visit my mum and catch up on the family gossip over a cuppa.  Then tomorrow will be spent shopping for groceries and weeding the garden, that's if the rain holds off!

I'm doing as little as possible.  :)

I have to play taxi too much and I don't want to go anywhere...or do anything.  I love getting my hair done.  I've had the same hairdresser for 20 years.  She's probably wondering what happened to me since I haven't been in for 6 months.  My daughter is in beauty school and I'm being "supportive."  Ha...so much that I've been SUCKERED into being her guinea pig for her first big evaluation on the 18th.   She gets to give me a facial, manicure, pedicure (she hates feet), cut my hair, roll it in perm rollers, some other funky stuff, cut it (say your prayers), style it and who knows what else.  It's an all day adventure...and I do mean adventure.  My hair is getting really long...my poor bangs hang down to the end of my nose...and the back is near the middle of my back.  This coming from a woman who whacked off her hair 10+ years ago and said it would never be long again...I use to colored it and everyone thought I was really a blonde...HA HA...it's darkish brown plus some angel wisps!!!

So there you go...how dull is that!!!  Oh yeah...kitten watching!!!

I got up at the crack of Dawn to help my daughter get ready for her SAT exam today. Make sure she ate breakfast took her vitamins, had her papers to get in. Now I am having coffee and a Chat. Then I will slip into some old jeans and get some garden flowers planted. YEAH> Then head over to my dad's house and weed a flower bed for my Stepmom. She is very ill and so every year for mother's day, My daughters and I plant a huge bed of flowers for her. Next week she won't be home more medical test, so we are doing it this week. We spend the day with her, plant flowers, have lunch and just enjoy.

Off to get more COFFEE!!!

I just spent Saturday morning in the gardens weeding, admiring all the new growth from my perennials and getting eatten alive by black flies. Now I'm sitting here at my laptop trying to make some graphics, getting rather annoyed because I can't seem to do the simplest things that I VISUALIZE in my pea brain.

Tomorrow I'm interviewing pet sitters...... I put an ad in the newspaper that comes out once a week in our rural area and have gotten at least 25 phone calls! Don't folks have anything else to do but walk dogs??? bear_laugh I've gotten young and old, a former animal control officer from a big city, a retired little lady who thought all terriers were wee little yippy things... not 30-40 pounds of intense energy... I can see my dogs DRAGGING her down our dirt road!  One college girl called me, scheduled an appt for tomorrow then called me back a day later to tell me that she FORGOT that she got into an acciden and totalled her car a week ago so doesn't have a way to get here. DUH!! It's just very interesting to get this odd glimpse into other people's lives!!! Tomorrow should prove very entertaining!!!

Hubs is off shopping for a new truck... just what we need with gas prices as they are! I have a big beast of an SUV and he already has a truck he wants to trade in for one that's bigger!!!! ACK! Personally I'm ready to drive a little foreign number that's ECONOMICAL!!!

Anyway, you asked! bear_original That's our weekend.

Hi Aleta,
I have started a new hobby that I would someday like to make as a business...  bear_wacko
I started last night by making a cheesecake with white chocolate. Let it chill over night and first thing this morning began making a chocolate ganache tha was glazed over the cheescake. Then..... I made a marshmallow fondant to cover it all with. And decorated it with a buttercream icing design. Then took some pics before my hubby dug into it  bear_rolleyes

I love making these!!  bear_flower

Oh, Roxanne!!!!!!!!!
How beautiful!! How could you let him even touch it!!?? Wow!!!
But then the inside looks delicious too! My mouth is watering! What a wonderful bedtime snack that would be!!  bear_tongue
I think you'd have a very sucessful business!
My neighbor started out making cheese cakes for friends and co-workers at holiday times a couple of years ago. Now she makes truffles and other goodies too and has cut back to part-time hours at her job to run her confections business.
Your cake looks absolutely devine! I'd be thrilled to be able to serve that at a dinner party!!! I can see setting the whole dessert table around the colors in a cake like that... making a beautiful presentation with that cake in the middle!
Can ya tell I'm impressed???

teddytalk3.jpgTeddyTalk2.jpgteddytalk1.jpgI'm feeling really nostalgic tonight, and a little homesick.  Yesterday, my daughter, grandson and I drove to our old home town of Deep River, about 3 hours north of here.   It's a pretty little town, located on the Ottawa River, across from the mountains in Quebec, and we lived there for almost 20 years.  Sarah, Corson and I spent the afternoon and evening, visiting our old neighbourhood and neighbours and we took Corson to play in the park, that Sarah used to play in as wee girl.   We took pictures of Corson and Sarah on the steps of our old house and Corson was able to hold a hamster by himself, for the first time at a neighbour's house.  He was soooo excited - he just kept saying - he tickles, he tickles!   We had tea with Sarah's old piano teacher and had supper at the local dairy and had their amazing ice cream for dessert.  Sarah had hoped to visit her old high school, but we ran out of time.  It was a wonderful trip down "memory lane".  I couldn't resist posting a few pictures - I hope it's okay.

Then we drove to another town a half hour away and stayed overnight, so that today, we could go to a baby shower for my daughter's oldest childhood friend, Andrea.  They have been friends since they were 18 months old and it's so nice to see the love and admiration they have for each other.  We had to bring Corson with us, and didn't know how long we would be able to stay, but he was a charmer and loved all the attention, so we stayed for the entire shower.  The only "almost" disaster was when Corson spotted the cake and tried to cut it himself - that was a close call, but they were so sweet and cut the cake just so he could have a piece early.  It was a really lovely day.  I had a wonderful weekend and it was glorious spending time with my "munchkins"!
