she's finished!
you can laugh at my lame 'backdrop' if you want,
I was just happy to get her finished at the time.
you know how it is sometimes
16" tall, free standing on wooden base. stuffed Ultrasuede
over wire armature, hand painted glass eyes, vintage lace &
brocade bodice with silk skirt. embellished with beads, diverse
fibers, paint, ink, ribbons, charms, embroidery.
her 'mama' adores her & she has arrived safely home.
now I can relax
thanks for lookin - I am happy to hide my stitches in
mohair again for a while!
Really marvelous ! I love all things about her !
Wow, Kim--most beautiful!
Eileen
What a lovely, delicious rat, Kim . . . your work is excellent! Her dress is equally wonderful and creative! Wow!
Kim, I love lots of details and you sure have it in this wonderful creation. Very unique and who cares about the background. It's your work that everyone will pay mind to. Great job!
Oh my Kim! She is amazing! Her dress is outstanding! You are one very talented lady!
Many Hugs Louise
Kim, you're an outstanding talent. Bravo!!!
Lovely work. The costume is breathtaking and lush. Reminds me of James Christensen's artwork ("Voyage of the Basset").
Kim,
Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous!! Did you design a bunny like this some time ago?
Warmest hugs,
Aleta
Aleta you remember the bunny! yes & that one was needle felted. It was
because of that bunny that I got this commission but for the skin
texture in this one I had to do ultrasuede. hard to hide stitches but I am
happy she turned out.
thanks so much!
MKinsey how awesome & flattering that you mention Christensen - I
have a big book of his lush paintings - & really it ought to be on every
doll artist's shelf I think. His characters & scenes are marvelously inspiring!
thanks so much everyone!
the best part is, I still have two more pieces of that wonderful vintage lace
(we need a drooling smiley!)
I have to admit I didn't know until I saw the picture of Puddin that I put you and the bunny together. I actually saved a picture of the bunny....hoping that someday another would turn up. I didn't think to save the ebay seller ID at the time. The picture is pinned to my bulletin board. It made that much of an impression on me. It didn't hurt that the bunny was in a pretty pink dress! I remember that it went well over what I could afford at the time and I was really bummed. I'm delighted to know for sure that it was, indeed, your bunny. You do the most unique and lovely work! Simply outstanding!!
Warmest bear hugs,
Aleta
Wowee! Lovely and original! I have a special place in my heart for rats (my rat, Lestat, was my close companion all through college). Thank you for making sure these special creatures are not overlooked!

Puddin is a fabulous little rat.
Her dress is amazing and everything about her. Great work.
I am so scared of rats - the other day I opened the compost bin and a rat jumped out and gave me the biggest scare i have had for\a long while.
Our cat often brings a dead rat and mice to the doorstep and that freaks me out.
Hugs Carolyn
lol I'd be scared of anything that jumped out at me when I opened a bin!
Under different circumstances though, they are very loving little creatures.
Aleta wow - you know a lot of people really responded to that bunny!
I have her pictures up on flickr, they are here in my dolls group:

thanks again
Amazing work...so creative and looks like a rat too ! ...Winney
Aleta... I am a HUGE fan of Kim Toadbriar's bunny too!!!!!!! In fact, I will admit that when Kim P. first joined us here, I believe that I passed a link to THAT bunny around to a few folks here, I was so struck by it!
Kim.... your hairless rat is amazing! You must make some other creatures with this same "feel" to them!
