I just finished my first real fur bear and found it more complex to work with than mohair.  Also, it's much harder to trim evenly -- for me, anyway.  Tammy, if you've mastered real fur already, mohair will be a cinch, I think!  And Louise... don't be scared, but do be informed.  It took me twice as long, and then some, to make a real fur bear.... even after asking lots of questions, reading Nancy Tillberg's TEDDY BEARS WITH A PAST (a VERY useful reference book), and getting lots of inquiries answered by Nancy herself -- along with other real fur wonders like our own Judi Paul -- on Nancy's NORTH COUNTRY TEDDY BEARS SITE.  It was hard work and very frustrating at times, but worth it.  I like the result a lot; real fur is just so glossy and wonderful.  Give it a try!

Oh Shelli can we see pictures.  I know your bear will be amazing.   They are much more time consuming, but are so nice from the real fur I think.

scruffyupclose.JPGscruffynew.JPGhannahnew.jpgMacintoshnew.JPGmacintoshupclose.JPGnewbear2.JPGMarie - the nose is fimo clay that has been lacqured (so it shines and protects the fimo)

I dont know what to name this guy.... The one in the top left corner (he is Winnie the Pooh colored with a satiny teal bow)

128-2885_IMG.JPG128-2890_IMG.JPGHere is Sophie who is 18 inches tall.  She will be going into the Sunflower Festival this weekend for sale and if she doesn't sell there she will probably go on ebay!  Although I really enjoy working with mohair she is made out of a synthetic fur.  I love a lot of the textures you get in synthetic.
