There is a little outbuilding across the driveway from my house where a mamma skunk must have had babies...SIX of them.

There are about the size of 6 week old kittens.  They are incredibly cute.  One of them came up to our cat, Samech (pictured) and then bunched up, tail high in the air, stomped his little feet and poor Samech went running.  Of course, my camera's memory was FULL when this happened.  It was so funny.

So...Kassie if you are reading this...now's your chance to get a baby and tame it!!!!   bear_grin   In fact, you can have SIX of them if you want...FREE!!!

Oh Shantell, they are sooooo cute.  Skunks and cats are pretty compatible.  We had tons of them in Deep River, and when I came home one night from a friend's house, one of our cats, who was still quite young, was playing with a baby skunk while mama rooted for grubs.  They were chasing each other around a tree.  We never see them here!  Thanks so much for the adorable pictures.

They are cute...but boy do they smell....ewwww!!  The mamma eventually tried to bring them onto the deck to look for kitty food but the little ones couldn't figure out the stairs...it was so funny to watch a couple of them try.  They ended up going around the perimeter looking for grubs and such.

I hope they move on because they are really a nuisance and like to tear up my groundcover looking for little morsels (slugs, bugs, worms, etc.)

AUGH!!!

Hi Shantell,
Yep, they are pretty destructive little devils, aren't they? LOL!

bear_original Super Cute and great pix!!

We seem to be short of skunks too this year. So far the dogs haven't been sprayed once.

Want to trade for raccoons?

Shantell, your pictures are so cute! I can't wait to show them to my daughter. We have a skunk that eats the seeds under the bird feeder every day. The other night the skunk and our cat were walking up the lane side by side and then the skunk headed for the shed and the cat headed for the house, it was so funny! You could almost hear them say "see you tomorow!" bear_grin

I am so saddened to report that we found one of the baby skunks in the flower bed by the deck this evening.  Earlier we saw the mamma and she appeared to be dragging one of her waywards children home but didn't think much of it.  We are not sure what happened as there didn't appear to be any time of obvious trauma to the baby.

We buried it's little body in the side pasture under an oak tree.  Said a short little prayer for his soul and I burst into tears like a big overgrown mush of senitiment that I am.

Now I can't stop crying....over a silly little skunk.  Just goes to show you have to be careful what you wish for as it doesn't always come the way in which you hope.  (Me wishing they'd go somewhere else)

And for anyone interested....their fur is incredibly soft!!!  And didn't smell at all!!!   bear_tongue

Those little babies are so cute, all following after their mum like that. It's nice to see the different kinds of widelife we have in our backyards. So sad about the little baby... bear_sad
