I've heard it recommended for distressing & ageing.
is it the same walnut ink that scrapbookers use, or something else?
where might I get it?

Good question.

I can tell you that the scrapbooker's walnut ink will stain your fabric, but then wash out in the laundry when you "finish" it.  Personal experience.  Trust me.

Google leads me to instructions on how to boil my own walnuts  :crackup: hmmm
one site offers 1 lb. of powdered walnut hull for sale - maybe that's the way to go -
anyone with a better idea do please speak up!!

Kim . . . check out www.rags-n-tags.com/supplies.html  I ordered some of this and have been very satisfied with it.  I haven't used it for dyeing mohair, but it works nicely on craft projects.  I know of some other places to get it already in liquid form plus in different hues, but will have to get back to you with the links.

Kim,

I have used walnut dye.  I boiled walnut hulls and made the dye from these.  It worked well.  I do plan on using it again in the fall when I can get more hulls.  Advice:  wear gloves, it will stain your hands also.
