I find I do get a backache frequently, especially while sewing, I just wondered what sort of chair you find most comfortable?? I tend to sew mostly in my typist chair (as it's easy to move from my workstation, them to the pc etc) but me poor back!! It 'urts!! Any advice appreciated!!
Hi Claire, I am a chronic backpain sufferer as well. What part of your back hurts? I usually take 3 ibprobpens or Tylenol PM.
Clare,
I wear a product that helps my back when I am working on bears. It is called body rite. I got mine for a quilting store. Here is a website: www.mageyes.com Hope it helps. Have you tried putting some arinca on your back?
Donna
a chair with arms so you can rest your elbows/arms...a height adjustable chair...and the thing that i always have to remember to do is raise my work to my eyes, not bend down to it..i put pillows on my lap to raise the work so there is no leaning over. hope ur back feels better

Thank you so much!! I will look into that Donna, it is better this morning, so it was obviously the way I sat Can we get arnica in the UK?? What is it??
Hi Clare,
by any chance: you didn´t sit in a fridge, right?
Oopsie! Sorry  bad joke.
I do have the same problem and since about 2 years I am sitting on my gymnastic ball.
My boyfriend smiled at me when he visited me for the first time. Since he is using my PC more often he once said, that....uhhhm...actually...well....sitting on this gymnastic ball is very relaxing and much more comfortable than any other chair.
It´s cheap and cheerful and you can use it for your back gymnastic as well...
Good luck!
Gaby
I'll second that gymnastic chair, but do be careful while using it to sew! When you're first finding your balance on the ball, you can easily find the ball going one way and you the other.
Arnica tablets are a homeopathic remedy for bruising, broken bones, sprains and sore muscling.... a true godsend! In the UK, you should be able to find the tablets at Boots, and possibly in the bulk/natural foods section of Tescoes etc.
Renae being in Oregon, you should be able to find it in any Fred Meyers...check in the bulk section. Granted I didn't like their brand because it tends to be the hard bb type. Wussy me, I like the Hylands brand that just dissolves as soon as you get it in your mouth. As a last resort, you can contact the Herb Store in Lincoln City, Oregon and they can ship you the tablets. The store owners are old friends of mine and are FAB for helping you over the phone.
As for backpain... elevating your work so you're not bending forwards is a great idea! Also be sure that the angle of your arms is comfortable. If you have to lift your arms to the work station (like I do to type on my computer) it puts strain on the back muscles and eventually the shoulders/neck. Try to keep your body as neutral in position as possible and yes, stretching and getting up to walk around ever so often will help BIG time! When you take the break, be sure to focus your eyes on something in the distance as well. This will help to prevent eye strain, and stave off headaches.
Dear Clare
So sorry to hear about your backache, my poor darling    I hope you get better soon. Sending you good vibes from Malaysia.
Beary hugs
