He's a lovely addition to the gallery Catherine - thank you!
Penny, your classic bear is adorable!
I just added mine too - :photo: I know you've all seen Tobias before, but he kept on to be in the gallery.....
GREAT IDEA!!
Count me in Paula but, PLEASE not a too close dead line  I am one of the ones that always "bite more than can chew"
Bear hugs.
Gladys
Gladys, I'm just he same! Hopefully the end September deadline will give everyone who wants to join in, plenty of time to enjoy the challenge!
Clare, Tobias is a lovely traditional teddy for our gallery!
Just found this topic (well, call me blind! )
I've added mine aged teddy.
My first antique style teddy.
Hugs, Julia
You've done a lovely job with him Julia! He looks elderly, but very much has your identity!
Thank you Paula!
He won't be for sale 'cause my daughter said that I HAVE to give him to her.
He is stuffed with excelsior.
I just finished my bear for the classic bear challenge. He is 5 1/2" tall, made of sparse mohair with wool felt paw and foot pads. I even left my signature eyebrows off this one so he would really conform to the classic bear rules!
Bear hugs, Edie
He's lovely Edie! Even without his eyebrows, he is still very much identifiable as one of your designs .. in particular, I think it's the ear placement and style that espcially says 'Edie' to me. Everything about him completely fits the challenge ... well done and thank you!!
I see Diane has added her beautiful old style cinnamon bear to the gallery too. What a gorgeous bear!
Our gallery is starting to look like a proper gallery now, with all the new arrivals!
I must get to work on mine ...
Wow. Edie, he's superb. Love him!
Thanks Paula and Gemma!
I just added my bear to the challenge. I'm really so happy that I participated!! I really never make larger bears....he's only my 2nd or 3rd, and my first traditional style. I was so tempted to play with shading, but I wanted to keep with the guidelines Hope you like him....I think I'll be making more larger and traditional bears now....they have such sweet old souls
~Chrissi
Chrissi, I've just had a look at him - he's adorable!!

Wow! What a great bunch of bears in the classic challenge! Well done everyone! I do see a few that seem to have a number of "artistic" touches though - hard to get away from doing that isn't it!
I added Gregory, a big beautiful classic bear to the gallery
Sonya
I Sonya
Your bear is very good! Mine on the Gallery , looking at him I think I would have like the ears set higher?? I will make another one , I think I have time.

I added mine too - he was my first antiquey style bear - and is about 6" tall - oooh I love the gallery - all beautiful bears in there!!!!!
The gallery is looking great! Thanks everyone ... the bears are super!
Just in case anyone has come late to this challenge I'll pop the guidelines in here again:
Challenge yourself to design a classic teddy bear!
The idea is to create a beautiful traditional, yet unique teddy bear, without using contemporary embellishments to develop your style. So, no shading, no eyelids, no moulded clay noses etc etc etc!
Concentrate on the shape of your bear and creating a beautiful facial expression using no more than black or amber & black glass eyes, an embroidered nose and mouth and scissor trimming.
Use traditional materials to make your bear.
Finally, trim him with a traditional bow, or similar.
Loving everyones bears!!!! I still haven't started mine (whoops!) but you are all inspiring me to put aside some time just for this!
xx Sarah
I've made my first bear for the challenge! I may squeeze in another if I find time ...
I'll pop a couple of pics here and one in the gallery. This bear is called 'Dilly Dilly' and is made using traditional one piece arms and legs and two piece body with a slight hump back. He has black glass eyes and a black embroidered nose.
Beautiful!
Hi Paula
Would this be considered a "classic bear"? I made this quite time ago
Beary hugs
Celena
Paula and Celena, your bears are very traditional!
Both are gorgeous!
I didn't post mine here so here it is!
My very first aged treditional ted.
Hugs Julia
