I have an appointment with a specialist today.  I don[t know what I expect or want.  I have done my research-a lot of reasearch.  I think I just want to KNOW for sure....and then I can begin dealing.  So dilu could use a few psotive thoughts.....

Have been out for quite a bit, so not quite sure of the context, but will be thinking of you and say a little prayer.

Forget the chocolate ... have a banana instead (see my post on nanners).  Or better yet, get yourself a nanner and dip in chocolate!

If it's fibromyalgia, please share what you find out as my doctor refuses to go ahaed with a diagnosis on paper and tells me it will ruin my life if I get a proper diagnosis that is documented  :redface:  I'm having an x-ray on my back to see if that might be causing my back and leg pain but she just doesn't care.

I'm praying that you have excellent doctors who are current with both technologies and their thought processes...too many do not do us justice when we are going through difficult times.

Find new doctors. Any that would tell you that are not competent.  It's not the "crazy-lady" disease that these doctors think it is and for a doctor to make that statement is anti-patient.  Would they say that for cancer, thyroid disease, or an ulcer.  No.  Please do yourself justice and find someone who doesn't think like a caveman.  Year and Years ago when a doctor found that stomach ulcers were caused by bacteria the medical community shunned him and called him nuts...now they all agree with the findings.  Find good doctors who are up to speed with treating Fibromyalgia, it's a managable condition once you are diagnosed properly.

Shari--I totally agree with what Chrissi has said here.  It is so important to find a doctor who is up to date on fibromyalgia and knows how to treat it.  Especially when so many doctors still don't believe in the diagnosis.  Very frustrating for anyone dealing with this.   My mom has been disabled for the past 7 years from fibromyalgia.  Many times she has felt like giving up with the doctors and just suffering in silence.  It's a battle to get her to try something or someone new anymore as she's been made to feel this way so often by the very doctors she's gone to for help.  I think she's finally found one that is understanding and knowledgeable.  Mom's finally able to sleep well most nights and isn't needing the afternoon nap as much anymore.  That's quite a feat, as the fatique coupled with lack of proper sleep has been a problem for a long, long time.  So.....don't give up!!  Keep looking until you find the proper doctor! :hug:  :hug:  :hug:

Shari Tracy and Chrissi are right...I hope you can get it looked into thoroughly and get a diagnosis!  I know  a lot about fibro so if you have any questions just ask.  I don't know, it seems to be more accepted here in Australia?  I watched a 'House' a while ago and the docs there laughed at it...in my experience with our docs they take it seriously...
