Hi all,
Please meet Daniel. He's my first go at making a lion, and using the same pattern (only revised) that I do my big bears out of. I redid the legs to give him straight legs, and slightly smaller paws.
I'm looking for feedback on the background for this guy. I am thinking that if I decide to list him (not sure I want to!), do I need to put a backdrop up? Does that brick overpower him and not makie him the focus, or am I crazy? lol
Daniel's made from Intercal's 610s/c for his mane and tail tip and 370s/c for the rest of his body. Not sure about the colors, as they're pieces I got at the bear show....
His eyes are handpainted, and in person, they keep more of their tan hue, not showing as much of the irridescence. His nose in embroidered and he's been shaded and sculpted deeply to bring out those lion eyes and that lion nose... :)
He is also weighted quite a bit; a hefty little thing! And although he CAN stand with a little work, I didn't design him to stand... all this weight is in his tummy.
To list or not to list... that is the question..... lol (what with eBay being the way it has been.......)

Oh, wow - I think he is amazing!!! If only I had the money......
I think the pictures look great and I'd be truly shocked if he didn't sell. LOVE HIM!!!!!
Oh Kimberly, he is awesome!!!!
Like I said the bricks give him that whole Urban Lion feel, IMO anyways!!
I don't think you will have any problem with him on eBay, but I know what you mean about the way it is right now!!!
Hugs,
Krista
Oh he's just gorgeous..well done!!!
OMG Kimberly,
I had to re-log in! Daniel is the cutest little lion ever!! Love him!!
JeannieB
what a beautiful little face,I love him.
I`M SURE HE`LL DO WELL ON E BAY.(Even though i have found it very slow at the moment)
HESSSSSSSSS GREEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fabulous!! Your first attempt? Magnificent!!
IMHO the brick background is a bit busy. Do you have something in the way of a medium to dark chocolate background? Perhaps even a much lighter background would work. Definitely a plain background though. You definitely don't want that gorgeous lion mane to go unnoticed!
Warmest bear hugs,

Really adorable Kim...you are truly coming into your own. You should keep this one for yourself!!!
Hi is gorgeous kim. I love lions
Have you any garden that you could pose him in? Prehaps buy some mondo grass or something and set it behind him...just thinking of an African setting :)
xx sarah
You gals are so great; thank you soooo much for your compliments and feedback. I am completely orn; I do like the bricks, but I agree they are a little busy and I think he gets lost in them.
Shantell, thank you very much; that is exactly what I've been trying for - my own style/look...
Sarah, while it's no excuse because we've bene here for a little bit, I have no garden as it's a new house. and I have been spending too much time on bears and not enough time on landscaping.....lol
I'll try a couple more different backgrounds and see how they look. I'd love you all's feedback when I get them taken and posted!
Thank you all!
Kimberly W.
Daniel is such a wonderful lion Kimberely... and your first one!
I love the mohair that you have used.

Fabulous Kimberly, he looks fantastic! It made me laugh as just yesterday I sat and designed a pattern for, yes........a lion........I can't think that mine will look as cute as this one though.
If you don't have a garden to photograph him in why not take him to a local park or gardens to take pictures.
I don't really like the brick background, somehow he doesn't seem at home sitting there.
Hugs Jane.
I echo everybody here, he's really a lion, a cute and kind one of course, not the one for wich you are just some meat
He is one of the most wonderful bears I have seen! How many pattern parts is his face? How did you make the mane?
OMG he's BEAUTIFUL Kimberly--
Wanna arm wrestle for him Renae?
I'd definitely go for a dark solid background to bring him out. And if you list him on eBay, I'll be there, torn between wanting him to draw a lot of bidders with deep pockets and wanting him to stay affordable for me
OK, Renae, I'll trade you this little guy for Candy.... LOL Riiiiiight, Like I'd be able to handle a REAL LION!!! Better start with something smaller, say a Moosie.... lol Maybe even just a kitten.... lol Thank you about the face, btw!!
Jennie, his head is 10 different pieces, using a longer pile mohair for the mane. I was lucky, I got to get a hands-on approach to the mohair at the bear show, so I could pick and choose exactly what would look best and go together. :)
Thank you, everyone for such lovely compliments! By the way, Jane, you have noooo idea how many times I've done that, started a pattern and someone else makes it! lol It happens! Can't wait to see yours!

HE IS GORGEOUS KIMBERLY...AND SUCH A SWEET, ADORABLE FACE...WHO WOULD NOT WANT HIM!!!!!
Hi Kimberly....Daniel is just wonderful...sooo appealing...a very, very, loveable lion!!!!!
I think he would look even more wonderful, on a plain backing......but hey...if you are able to, I think
you should keep him...he's just too precious!!
Hugs,
Yvonne.
Ohhhhhh!! He's gorgeous Kimberly.......ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!! Definitely go with a solid background for his photos. Something that will really show his color off. I think he will do very well on eBay. I WANT him!! I wanted Timothy too, and really, really wanted to bid again, but the lady who outbid me is also a good customer of mine, so I was in a spot. Would one really want to get in a bidding war with one's customer? Probably not a good idea! So.........get him listed on eBay and I'll be there in disguise this time.......using the hubby's user id!!
&

What a beautiful work of art, Kim . . . just outstanding! I would photograph him with a plain background, also. The brick competes too much with that adorable lion!
WOW...he is AMAZING! Good Work
!!!! You go girl! He looks great and you have been a busy girl. You should have no problem selling him. Won't you find it hard to get rid of the great face?????!!!!! ... I know we can't keep them all.
Wonderful,
Hugs, Lynn
Oooo Renae, are those lampwork beads? Those are purtyfull!!!!! Hmmm, me thinks I may just have to get some from you.... gimme some prices and whatnot; PM me....
I AM torn between listing him and keeping him... this is truly a hard decision for me.... Also, I really cannot put into words how grateful and happy I am for all of you ladies' compliments on him! Thank you sooooooo much!!!
