Dear all,

In my following post I have introduced you to the world of scooter race and the teams plus told you a little bit about check up and equipment.

In this part, I want to tell you about getting ready for the race.

Eventhough the start of the race is usually at the end of the morning, we need to arrive early in the morning (usually we arrive a little bit before 9:00 am).

In the early morning François takes his van and comes with Valentino to pick up Malko and me, then we go to Lacen's to pick him up and drive to the circuit place.
Once arrived, we install the pit, unload the van.

Valentino reminds me not to forget to put protective cream against the sun.

The scooter got a lot of gum from the race in Ancenis: Thierry removes it:

Once the pit is installed, the pilots check up the machine:

Here at the last race in Le Mans: Thierry is busy working on the scooter (you can see Malko too as well as Thierry's son).

Once the scooter looks fine, it is time to put some petrol in (the petrol is mixed with a percentage of oil). François's team has got Yacco as a sponsor: Yacco is a brand of oil.

There at the last race in Le Mans: Thierry and Claude show how to add petrol in their scooter.

Once the scooter is ready to go the pilots go for a few minutes on the circuit for some assays once they are allowed to.

Here Lacen has just finished his assays.

You may have noticed that his right hand is attached to the scooter: in fact it is connected to the circuit breaker, which serves to stop the scooter in an emergency when accidents happen: as soon as the contact with the circuit breaker is broken, the engine is stopped.

They often need to do extra re-adjustments after the assays.

And finally: time to get ready for the very first round!

Hey, Malko, don't forget the timer, says Valentino!

Next to come: the race itself...

Beary hugs,
Sophie.

Valentino loves to go to the races.
Each time he is more succesful with people walking around!

Judi, during the last couple of races, we had a very hot weather (more than 30°C).

This beginning of week is much cooler. Today I would say not much more 20°C. Lots of clouds and a bit of wind. The sun is currently trying to point its nose...  bear_tongue

I am pleased you like my report.

Beary hugs,
Sophie.
