Yesterday was the summer picnic for the Portland Paws Chapter of Good Bears of the World. We have functions throughout the year to raise money to put teddy bears in the arms of those in need or crisis. It's a very worthwhile organization and I encourage all of you to look for a chapter in your area. You will meet the most wonderful people and have a lovely time getting to know them.
Yesterday the picnic was held at my home. Oh my goodness! It was so much fun!! The weather was just right....not too hot, not too cold....and so the story goes....just right! Lots of food, lots of laughter and just plain lots of fun. One of the best things about the picnic was meeting our very own TT'er, Renae and her husband Kerry. Genuine, real, down to earth people. Finer people you will never meet, I tell you.
Renae also brought Rosebud, her darling needlefelted avatar bear. Renae, honey, your avatar just does not do Rosebud justice!! She also brought a few more friends to share....and I was able to see first hand the absolutely charming little mouse Matilda sent to Renae. It was the little mouse in the bathing suit from the Mouse Challenge. Cute as a bug, er...mouse! You just have no idea of the detail until you see these bears and friends up close and personal.
It was just a fabulous picnic! So much so that Bill and I are going to host again next year. So, Oregon gals, I'm putting you all on notice. If you'd like an invitation, and it's only by personal invitation, please contact me and I'll put you on the list. That goes for anyone from the Vancouver, Washington area as well.
The first two pictures are of me and Renae. Isn't she beautiful?!! Inside and out, I'm telling you. We had fun hamming it up for the pictures. The rest of the pictures are of the GBW, Portland Paws members. We even had a member bring his grandson for a dip in the pool!! Next year perhaps we'll all go for a dip in the pool!!
I wish you all could have been there. It was just the best time!
Warmest and biggest bear hugs,
Aleta
Personally I think you are both beautiful. I am glad that Renae and Terry could be there and hope that next year we can all meet and be with you.
Rest well, my sweet, you done yourself proud I am sure!

Wonderful to see you both and the beautiful pictures. I'm there next year if hubbie wins the lotto
I just adore your garden. Bet this is what PenPen's will look like soon
Great photos, and by the looks of it, a great time had by all. Are you sure NorCal girls like me can't just crash next year? I'll bring food...???
All I can say is ....DAMN...I wish I could have been there!!! My heart was there even if my head was somewhere else. Keep me on the invitation list because I'm already planning for next year!!!
Thanks for sharing Aleta...you are truly a GEM!!!
Aleta and Renae - you both look fabulous! It looks like you all had a wonderful tme for a worthy cause. Take care and bye for now.

GREAT photos . . . looks like it was a blast!! Renae and Aleta, you both look fantastic - makes me want to move to the Portland area!
Out of town guests make your reservations early! Maison de Breese (Lousy French, I know. Sorry Sophie!) only has room for three **overnight guests. Two doubles and a single.
Warmest bear hugs,

** Overnight for those traveling more than 2 1/2 hours one way or by plane.
How about a TBAG Halloween Party? It could be a first annual "The Witch is In" party. Everyone comes dressed as witches. Good witches only though. Scary is really not my thing. Just an idea rolling around in my head. Lots of things roll around in my head! Ha!

I thought of you all when I saw Aleta's work room. It's like teddy bear heaven. Like the best doll shop/teddy bear shop you every walked into, only loved.

Dear Aleta,
I could not be at your wonderful picnic and I truely missed not being able to go. But what a smile on my face to see you and Renae arm and arm and that made up for not being able to go. And the second picture - "you go girls!!!!!" Aleta everything looks just wonderful.
please contact me and I'll put you on the list.
Consider me contacted Aleta. I am so looking forward to meeting you. Thank you so much for inviting me.
"The Witch is In" party. Everyone comes dressed as witches.
I love Halloween! What a great idea. I have tried getting an all woman Halloween Party together for years. My friends in Canada did not seem interested, little party slackers.
Good witches only though. Scary is really not my thing.
I will come with all my good witchy behaviour and a broom if I have to fly there.
Shantell, Dilu, Kassie, you were all these in spirit with me, I thought of you all when I saw Aleta's work room.
I will say it again - Renae you are just a doll.
I am so glad you had a wonderful time. I was thinking of all of you too!
And I want everyone to notice, that is probably the first picture taken of me in years without me holding an animal! I was hoping the leopard spots would make me blend in a little better, oh well!
you just crap me up Renae - and I told you I have to be careful with the laughing right now. too funny girl.
hugs to both of you - back to bed
Oh that looks so FUN!!!! Thanks so much for the pics Aleta!!!

Thanks for sharing the pictures Aleta of your magical day with all your friends. There is nothing better than getting together for a good hug and lots and lots of laughs. Would love to come to one of your soirees one day, but it might be a bit too far! Next year's idea sounds brilliant - lots of very happy, friendly witches casting lots of wonderful spells for everyone.
