Well, after a whilrwind trip to Newcastle, Ontario, we bought a house.  Sometimes when we least expect it, the universe is in sync with us.  I fell in love with a backsplit  at first sight, but hubby didn't like it as much.  It had tons of room and was immaculate but not as much property.  So, we kept looking and actually found a house very similar to the one we are in now, with a huge back property and hubby thought I would my delighted. I could have sat down and cried - my gardens in Kemptville were getting too much for me to manage, so I was looking forward to scaling down.  Thank goodness the bedrooms were way too tiny, so I nixed that house.

We compromised on a house that we could both live with, but fortunately for me, they were really strange people.  The would not budge one cent from their asking price AND they wanted an extra 5 days to find a house for themselves, or they would squash the sale.  Obviously, no one would agree to those ridiculous terms, and we were running out of time, so I got my first choice!  That's the good news.  The bad news is we have to be out of our house by next Thursday, August 11th and don't get possession of our new house until August 28th.  So, it's back to living with the kids for two more weeks.  I'm sure they are wondering why on earth they wanted us there in the first place lol!  We will take one cat with us and board the second one for two weeks, at the vets.  We think Thumper is nasty now - I can hardly wait to see how lovely he will be after two weeks of boarding LOL!  So, Deborah, if you are reading this, we have tons of room for you and Karen to come down and spend weekends.  There is a living room and two family rooms for us to spread out in!

I will miss TT for the next few weeks, as I'm sure I won't be able to post much.  I can't wait to be in and settled and move on with daily living.

                                                   hugs,

                                                   Brenda

I'm confuzzed.   bear_wacko (What's new?)  Which house did you settle on?  What's a backsplit?  I've never heard of that term.

Do PM your new address as soon as you're settled.

Warmest and biggest "Congratulations on your New Home!" bear hugs,

Hi Aleta,
Yes, I'm sure I am sounding like an alien - I'm so tired.   Anyway, I got my first choice which was the backsplit.  A backsplit means the house is split into levels, with smaller sets of stairs, instead of a huge staircase.  I have a knee that was injured several years ago, and it is giving me real problems.  I wanted a bungalow, but there just weren't any for sale so this is the next best thing for me.  It's hard to describe, but when you walk in there is one level with a family room, hallway, closet etc.  You can go up about 7 stairs to the bedrooms, or go down 4 stairs to the kitchen, diningroom and living room, and the laundry room, which is a bonus.  Then you can go down another 6-7 stairs to a huge family/rec room and then down another few stairs to the basement.  If you have never been in one, it's hard to imagine.  There are still stairs, but they are small sets and easier to handle for me.  Anyhow, I am over the moon, as it's much bigger than our current house.

                                                   hugs,

Brenda

That's fantastic news!  Your new house sounds great and wow you will be rattling round in all that space for a while.  Hope that the packing/transition phase goes well for you and that your grumpy thumper recovers before there's too much damage.

Take care,
Melissa

p.s. just think!  you'll be able to spread  out all those scrapping supplies that you've been hoarding  bear_tongue

Thanks for the well wishes, girls!

Melissa, I have a new scrapbooking toy and I can't even take it out of the box until after we get settled bear_sad  It's a Stampress and you can use polymer clay to make fab designs with the wheels.  You can emboss paper and all kinds of things.  It is killing me to leave it in the box LOL!  I can't wait to get settled.

Congratulations Brenda, your new house sounds fascinating. I am amazed at how soon you have to move out and how soon contracts are sealed. Here in England you can spend weeks or months exchanging contracts. This for us was great as it gave us time to sort through everything pack it at our own pace and also to get new curtains made for the new house. We had an offer on our house in November and moved into the new house in late February.
Good luck!

Hugs Jane. bear_thumb

Oh WONDERFUL Brenda!!!!!  Sounds like it's just PERFECT for you!  A month from now this will all be over and you can just concentrate on settling in a nd finding new places for everything!  I always liked that part of setting up in a new home.  The moving itself, I can do without, but once all the furniture is in and the basics are unpacked and it's livable... I alway love figuring out where the rest of the things belong!

I'll be thinking about you!

Brenda I am so happy for you and that you got the house of your choice!  Hopefully you will have a beautiful garden in this house too and you will be able to enjoy it more as it won't be so large.

Thanks everyone - I really am excited!  Paula, I hope you are able to sell your house soon - I will send my "moving fairy" over the pond to help speed things up for you!

Jane,  contracts are definitely different here, it seems.  If both parties agree on a date, it doesn't matter how long or short the time is.   We're not too badly off, as I went through the entire house and sorted, before we put it up for sale.  We have about 1/4 of our furniture and over 100 boxes, already stored in our daughters garage, and another 30-40 in our basement, so the house is down to bare bones, so to speak.  Funny thing is, I really haven't missed the stuff that's been packed for almost 5 months.  I'd almost be willing to dump it - that says how much "stuff" we have LOL!  I've enjoyed living in a "sparse" house, where everything has a place.

I think I'm most excited about Corson having lots of extra room to play.  I love our current house, but it really wan't suitable for small kids.  This will be much better!
