raccoons.JPGAfter all these years I finally found the perfect solution for grey mink....raccoons! I don't know anything about raccoons but I love their panda-like masked face. I just designed a baby raccoon pattern:

I hope you enjoy looking at them.
Thanks~Kathy

Lordy, those are wonderful, and if I didn't believe raccoons to be the spawn of Satan I might even bring one home to live with me.  Just gorgeous!

absolutely the cutest things I've ever seen.  I quite like raccoons but that's probably because unlike Shelli and all you other North Americans, I have never encountered them in real life.

I always love your bears Kathy but these two would be my favourites!

bear_original These little rascals are super-hyper-adorable , Kathy bear_wub

I thought every city had raccoons--we've got raccoons on our raccoons.

I set up a child's wading pool for the dogs, but they're terrified of clean water.

It's not going to waste, though. A mom raccoon and her kits come and play in it almost every night!

Feel I must share my "devil's spawn" story since Renae is giving me a hard time ...

bear_tongue

When I lived in the hills of San Mateo, in the SF Bay Area, I had raccoons that used to come in thru my dog door.  I had fallen asleep on the sofa one night and I awoke to the sense that something was frighteningly amiss.  I sat bolt upright on the sofa and right in front of me were two red, glowing eyes.  I kid you not.  Swaying back and forth, not four feet away from me, IN my house, on my beautiful hardwood floor, was a HUGE raccoon.  Just slowly, menacingly, swaying.  I was entirely freaked out, mostly because I didn't want it to continue thru the house to my kids' rooms (they were really little at the time).  I made myself REALLY BIG and said sternly, "GO!"  and started making "shooshing" movements with my arms, waving it back toward the dog door.  And it turned, ever so slowly, and headed lumberingly toward the door.  Every so often it paused, looking back over its shoulder at me, with those glowing red eyes.  Finally, it pushed thru the dog flap.  And then it walked slowly over to the French doors right beside that dog door, and put its nose up to the glass, and just looked at me thru the window for the longest time, reminding me that it knows where I live... and how to get inside.  AARGH!

The critters were coming in to get at the cat food.  I even found their footprints on the kitchen counter.  Ick!

A few days later, after I figured out how to close up the dog door at night!, I had again fallen asleep on the sofa, and awoke to the strangest sound -- a happy, light, tinkling sound, like little children laughing.  I went over to the French doors and had to rub my eyes because I couldn't believe what I was seeing.  It was like some kind of surreal animal cartoon scene.  There were raccoons EVERYWHERE -- there must have been seven or eight of them -- and they were banging my kids sand toys on the deck, and one of them actually pulled the little kiddy basketball hoop into the little kiddie pool, by grabbing onto the net and yanking hard.  Others were swimming and splashing, and two of them were rolling around on the grass.  The entire time, the group of them were laughing maniacally like crazed toddlers on speed.

Really, ever since those two experiences -- which REALLY happened -- I just (almost) truly believe that raccoons were put on earth by Lucifer to keep us all on edge.

But Kathy... YOUR raccoons almost make me believe that I might be wrong about that devil's spawn conclusion of mine...

Kathy---I am heartbroken.  Only because Rebel and Ringo are ALREADY SOLD!!!  *cries eyes out*

I love them to pieces---are you going to be making more or will you take on commissions?  I will hunt for a silver mink coat if you are out of fur---heck, I'll buy five and give 'em to you just for one raccoon!!  I love them, they are enchanting and absolutely adorable!

I want, I want, I WANT!!!  =)
