Michelle, keep your chin up.  Sometimes we can only see what is right in front of us , and not what lies ahead.  Things will work out even if  it isn't always easy at the time.  I'm so sorry for your disappointment though  bear_sad

Michelle,  That really does suck!

Yep, when it happens, all you can think is 'This sucks', but I've found in the past this sort of thing somehow becomes a major turning point, and becomes a blessing in disguise.  You end up doing things you never would have otherwise.

The nicest thing about teddy bears is that they have infinite patience.  Scribble your ideas down in a notepad just for your bears.  That way when you have the time and are able to start in again, you will have ideas to get started immediately.  You can even create patterns this way, sewing them from papertowels just to 'get an idea' of what it will look like in the fur.

 And just because you're not making bears now doesn't mean you can't join in the fun  :bday:   I've been 'hibearnating' with my bears, and had just started in again when I had my accident.  None of the girls seem to mind that I haven't made a new bear in ages.  LOL...either that or they just put up with me  bear_rolleyes  bear_grin  bear_laugh

Hi Michelle!
That does suck...big time..BUT the thing about teddy bears is they don't care what they're made of.  You now have the opportunity to create amazing patterns and define your style and then when you are able you can transfer that style into Mohair bears.  Right now you can use just about anything, in fact many books I've read suggest patterns be tried out with muslin or scraps first. Old Chenille Bedspreads and quilts make some really cute pattern testers....add a bow and call it a gift for someone (very primitive and trendy actually!!)   Keep chatting, it helps to keep the spirits up and make the time fly by

Good grief - doesn't life stink.

You'll still be able to visit TT and chat etc.  You will be able to consolidate your ideas until the time is right. The creative juices can still flow............................

Take Care.

I know you are dissappointed, Michelle,

c021.gif

BUT

Perhaps there is another way to look at it?

c041.gif

Maybe you have to get more creative....can't afford mohair?  Try upholstrery remnants from a shop that recovers furniture....

c013.gif

or perhaps look into string bears?  Those precious little tiny croceted numbers?

I know you dearly wanted to do life one way, but that is part of life.

c016.gif

a049.gif

rolling with the punches doesn't hurt nearly as much as being stiff and standing still and taking it right on the old noggin.

Now's the time to say, "Self. how are we going  to solve this problem?"

e016.gif

c029.gif

and it can be solved.

Honest.
[/size]

For every problem in life there are two avenues....and the way your life goes from here on depends on how you problem solve NOW.

c014.gif
So picture where you want to be in 5 years and keep heading that direction....

c043.gif

you could offer to sell the tapersty bears to the customers who are getting their furniture recovered.  you wont get much but every penny counts...

.

Or you go to church bazaars and find moth eaten fur coats that you reclaim and turn into bears?

c029.gif

The key to life is this;  don't give up and always keep heading towards your goal....

And we are here to cheer you on!

Big bummer, Michelle - I'm very sorry.  Hope your situation works out in the best way possible!  While vacationing in Alaska, I came across this little piece of wisdom:  "Attitude is the difference between an adventure and an ordeal."

Oh Michelle, I am SO sorry to hear that!  bear_sad But like Debbie said:

just because you're not making bears now doesn't mean you can't join in the fun

and I am sure that you will come up with some awesome new ideas for new bears to make when you can.
