After a very frustrating morning, Skippy's surgery has been postponed until further notice. This past week Sir Surrender (the white male wild one) has decided that sleeping WITH Skippy in the cat carrier is just the cat's meow...even though he has his own....which has caused a problem with catching Skippy. This morning she decided she wanted absolutely nothing to do with the trap...not even enticing her with yummy tuna, chicken and just plain old boring cat food. She's now so leary of us that she runs when we open the door which just yesterday she was constantly under our feet.
I am so frustrated I'm in near tears....
Not only because she will probably end up pregnant again but because she is now afraid of us and we have to rebuild trust.
Cats....
I need a double martini...no olive...straight up!!!
Oh Shantell,
Skippy must have sensed that something was up. Cats are extremely intelligent creatures. I'm sorry you're having such a hard time.
Warmest and biggest bear hugs,

She's a stinkpot is what she is...too damn smart for her own good. She's giving me scathing looks of contempt now.
I've gone from being frustrated to downright annoyed!!!
Like Mother.....like children! In the past week, Max has broken one of my huge apothecary jars full of cotton balls and a glass votive that was up on the fireplace mantel. Both Brittany and Justin have sticky tape and tin foil on their countertops and tables too! We are all at that....oh, this kitty is going to make me crazy stage of kittenhood. The apples don't fall far from the tree!!
Warmest hugs,

There may be a ray of hope. There is a good chance that Skippy will not come into heat again until late winter. That is usually the case around here and that is what we are hoping for with the little stray we're tending to. Our little mama is Mia. Her kittens are now about 8 weeks old. We are hoping to tame Mia a bit more before taking her to spay. I don't think she will come in heat before January (I hope). That will give me more time to work with her and hopefully to make the trip less traumatic for her.
Stinkin' Feline!!!!!!!! I imagine another temper tantrum occured at your house over this! Grrrrrr!!!
Perhaps next time you try to get her in for surgery you start trying to catch her the night before. So she spends the night in her carrier.... at least you'll know she didn't eat anything the night before her surgery and she'll be so exhausted from howling all night (better put her in the garage or something!) that she'll hardly need anesthesia!
Teddy bears are so much better behaved!!
Yes, indeedy, kitties are waaaaaay too smart! I don't even have to bring the carrier in for them to see . . . they can always "sense" (however they do it) a trip to the vet and make a beeline for under the bed. Hope Skippy will settle down and allow you to take her in at some point. Hugs to you!
You're not nuts, Renae....Skippy is. We did try to catch her the night before...NOTTA. We even left the garage open hoping she would go in there like she NORMALLY does.
She just plain knew something was up and wanted no part of it. It'll happen but I suspect on HER terms.
Damn cat!!!
OK, Shantell, make like a tree!
Renae, that is indeed perfect advice!
My dogs know the minute I'm out of bed if I have to go some place that morning and they get all anxious and obnoxious and in my way! I've learned to do similar.... PRETEND I'm going no where, act laid back... I even sit down in hub's recliner sometimes RIGHT BEFORE I'm about to head out the door. Really messes with their heads!!!
Has Skippy returned to her carrier at all?
Ms. I'm-in-Control has been around all day. She's been giving me the evil eye all day too. She actually LOOKS pissed off. She'll get over it. I suspect she'll venture into her carrier once it gets dark here...that's the normal routine.
She's just a brat...obviously meant to live with me.
OK, Shantell, think like a can of tuna. Ooo, it so nice in here with all that fresh spring water surrounding my fishy goodness. Boy, I would like a cat to come along and enjoy my tasty self. Just sitting here, lalalalala......
I really have a strong dislike for fish...so that will take some willpower on my part.
Skippy seems back to normal this morning...you know..."hey lady, where's the food" as she stares in the window, tapping it with her little stubby paw, and then trying to trip me as I try to pour food into her dish.
All is well...guess we know who's boss at my house.
Hugs,
