Julia, I love that child's face you are working on, and your beautiful mountain painting--is it watercolor?

Sara Jane, what a beautiful cloth doll! I belong to a dollmakers club here in Ohio so I've had the chance to see how lovely and detailed cloth dolls can be in person. Your soft sculpture on the face is wonderful!

Aerianna,   such important work and congratulations on your promotion!

Melissa, I will be watching for your cards and scrapbook pages!

Hi Tami!!!!  Well... i love just about anything that has to do with needle work... crochet and needle tatting especially... I won't post any pics since as most of you know many of my bears have tiny little crochted or needle tatted accents... just peek in my phototrail...

http://www.picturetrail.com/bastadolls

But... I do also make tiny little sculpted baby faeries from time to time.  Mostly just by special order now, as the bears take up the vast majority of my "Play Time"....

Oh... I forgot... I finally did decide to start taking ballet class again!  THAT has just been marvelous therapy for the soul!   bear_smile

Oooh....I just love seeing everyone's OTHER passions.  It's fun to see what else goes on in your creative minds.

I love the baskets Charlotte...I personal own many...you know...the L brand baskets.  However, I'd love to get my grubby hands on one of YOURS.

I'd also love to learn digital scrapbooking like Shelli and Laura do...however, I don't see that happening.  I use to do the old cut & paste scrapbooking but quilting took over and now bears.  Sigh

Wow, so many other hobbies and talents! I enjoy cross-stitching, but don't have time to do it anymore. I play flute and am trying Native American Flute playing....don't have much time to practice either of those...  bear_rolleyes  I make (mold) chocolate....for anyone who purchases a bear they get a chocolate teddy bear. I made quite a lot for my nephew's wedding about 10 years ago. I also make cakes. Dont' get many orders, but I am going to be making the cake for my brother-in-laws wedding in November......I will try to get pictures and post them. Other than that, bears is what I do all day long.....UNLESS......Is playing on the computer considered a hobby???????

You've all done such wonderful, beautiful things.  I'm amazed.  What a beautiful fairy baby and the quilts  bear_thumb  A couple of us want to get together from my bear group here and try a rag quilt.

I used to do my own paintings on ceramics (sorry no pics), I knit and crochet, mainly for my bears now.  The only other thing i do now is make bears and i have 2 beagles that demand my time as well.  They get walked daily otherwise Benny gets a little bored and tries to pull things off the counter.  Oh ya and a husband too.  The kids are mostly grown up so other than bailing them out from time to time i only started going back to school in the evenings to update my skills.  So i'm booked.

Hello Teddy Bear Friends: I just love to see what hobbies people have. I share a love for cooking like Duli. Yes the TV Food network is my all time favorite station to watch. I collect cookbooks and recipes. I have no shame. If I am in a resteraunt and like what I am eating, I will ask the chef for the recipe. I often get it too!! So anybody need a recipe for something, I probably have it. If I can't get the recipe, I can figure it out by experimenting.

Oh yes, I enter the Pillsbury Bake Off contests too. Love to develop new recipes....Though, I never do get a call from them... but I don't care, It's loads of fun...

Another passion is collecting vintage costume jewlery. The gaudier the better. And I always wear vintage pieces everyday to work.  So often, I am in a business suit and have the most delicious, gaudy looking bauble plastered to my lapel. I think it adds fun to one's life.

OOOH! I'm so glad I posted this topic! What a lot of "eye candy".

Marie, your felted leaves are so delicate and realistic.

Tami that Barbie is gorgeous in her turquois gown!

Jodi, your attention to detail on your little dolls is great.

Penpen, your dolls are absolutely haunting! The animation is really a cool effect. I can't wait to send this link to my friend whose reaction to my clown puppet head was "creepy". She'll love yours!

Charlotte, your basket is a work of art! I, too, have quite a few of the "L- word" baskets. One holds my bear making tools like stuffing sticks, scissors awls, plyers, wrenches etc. They are well made, quite sturdy and in my opinion much prettier than having a plastic tool box on my work table. BUT what you do is art. Steiff bears may be the creme de la creme in manufactured  bears, they can't really be compared with what we do here!

Well what a bunch of talented ladies you all are. Just an absolutely wonderful thread full of artwork!

Here are some of my decorated boxes...I used to love making the flowers to go on top and it was a great way to use up my old bridal fabrics.

Boxes.jpg

This is what I love doing now, as companion pieces for my bears. I design them, Glenn cuts them out and assembles them and then I paint them. It's been a great way to keep him involved and it's something we can share.

Marie, Yes the dolls are small 6 inches and under. The heads and hands and feet are femo clay and the bodies are stuffed with wire through them so you could pose them. I still have 2 of them here at the house in my hutch. I thought I should keep some !! I did a wonderful clown once, I will try to dig up the picture. Thanks for the compliments !

I've really enjoyed this thread - Thank You everyone for posting.

I've done needlework stuff all my life - being taught by my Grandmother as she made stage costumes for shows etc. I taught it for a while too.

I love to do Tatting, but my arthritic fingers grumble.  My cross stitch designing has given way to three-dimensional embroidery (like the butterfly on my bear Muaga) and I do a lot of Goldwork embroidery but the price of gold currently means this is quite expensive and I have to ration myself to special pieces.

My Bearmaking - well that's work in progress.................

I don't have pics I'm sorry - But I'll take some in the future if anyone is interested.

Oh I forgot - I grow Orchids too.
