I did it! I did it! I finally completed a challenge!
Here is a brand new design.
He's 17 1/2" tall. Made of Schulte synthetic that is oooooh so soft with a wonderful frosted finish.
He's softly stuffed (a feat in itself for me as I tend to stuff my bears really firm!) with polyfil and plastic pellets.
His arms are bent for giving the greatest hugs.
His nose is needlefelted with a bit of embroidery yarn over.
His face is needle and scissor trimmed.
He doesn't have a name! Suggestions???

He insisted on having his pictures taken outside, in the SUN, so that 'dappled' look is NOT his fur!
I'm very pleased with him though I will make a few minor pattern alterations for the next ones I make... and YES there will be more! bear_original This one is going to Schaumburg with me at the end of the month! Carola, hope to see you there!

Now I'm off to finish a bear for another challenge!!

All I can say is wowowowowowowoeeee!!!!!!!
The fabric I chose for mine has given me no end of trouble. So I gave up and went back to my critters in mohair.
After seeing such splenid creations I think I might have to rethink and get one made. MMMmmm maybe........

Hope this picture insertion works.  Here's Polka Bear.  Lime green with blue and purple polka dots.  Still needs nose and other finishing touches though.

What an excellent nose and muzzle!  Is that nose polymer clay?  Would you mind sharing how you made the mouth?  Is it just thread pulled tightly?

Adorable bear!

Well, thank you!  bear_original   it is polymer clay (fimo to be exact)... and I lacquered it.  The mouth is needle sculpted and scissor trimmed bear_original

I am such a newbie.  Only been making bears for a month or so.  Is it difficult to needle sculpt?  Do you know if there are old threads that may explain how to do it?  I love the look!

I FINALLY finished my synthetic bear.  I'm calling him BUMBLE because he reminds me of the abominable snowman, he's soooooo fluffy.  And they call the abominable snowman "Bumble" in one of those annual holiday claymation type movies.  I think it's "The Year Without a Santa Claus."  The one with Hermie, who wants to be a dentist; Rudolph; and the Isle of Misfit Toys.  And Yukon Cornelius.  Or am I mixing this all up?  Maybe it's the one with The Heat Miser and The Snow Miser.  Gee, I love those guys; especially Mr. Cold.  No idea why.

Anyway... I digress... :)

Here's BUMBLE!  Same pattern as I've used previously and same layout.  There's a lot possible with so much plush fur length!  The muzzle trimming gave me hives; it needs to be very precise!

Angela, I like your colorful bear a lot!  You're doing fine getting photos into the threads; I see you've worked that out.

Regarding needle sculpting... check either the REFERENCE LIBRARY, which is the drop-down box next to the little waving smiley at the top of the forum... or do a SEARCH for "needle sculpting."  I'm sure you'll find many, many posts which discuss this topic!

Bev,
Thank you  bear_flower
I guess I'm sort of a perfectionist when it comes to cats/kittens. The fur I  was very experimenting with was wild and hard to "read".  Also, the backing was very bumpy almost like seersucker fabric?! I fought with the fur all through the design trying to make it do what it was not meant to do. That's why I say the fur won! But it did make me realize that I have to experiment more often and not let myself become rigid in my way of working and the materials I use.

P.S. Wait until next month! I'm working on something that is very different from the cats  bear_rolleyes
