I have always loved Hallowe'en, and remember going trick or treating with friends..... it was fantastic!!!  Unfortunately the world is a little different now to let my kids do the same, but I shall still decorate the house and do spooky stuff, what do you all get up to??   Or do you think it's all hocus pocus like my other half??!

Halloween only became popular here in Austria a few years ago, so I didn“t have it during my childhood.
Do you live in a city or a smaller place?
We have a rememberance day for the dead and sinc I do have a pproblem with death anyway, I think, Halloween is a good way to celebrate all saints day.

I have never been a big Halloween fan.  Even as a child I didn't really enjoy dressing up and going out to trick or treat.  I had more fun staying at home and seeing all the little kids in their costumes.

Now Christmas is a whole different story...

I was going to start a Halloween pic thread; this is cool!  I love Halloween, always have.
My mom always sewed our costumes when we were little, we even dressed the family dog up.
I'd like to see some pics of TT'ers in costume, kids in costume, even the pets in costume...parties, etc.
Aleta's got the Halloween decorating thing nailed down to perfection (check out the "show us your collection" thread)...wow. bear_wub luv it!

Here are some of my favorite pics...
The first pics are from when I was obviously a lot younger!!  A scary Halloween Witch (I thought so anyway!). And my sis and I as futuristic space men.

This "newer" photo is one of my favorites.  My husband and I were only dating for a few months and there was a Halloween party for the shop I worked at.  The owners of the retail shop always threw a big Halloween Barn party.  This was back in 1997 and the shop sold Beanie Babies during the CRAZE. We all would buy the beanies.....but we really hated how they made customers act and probably hated the beanies a little too  .  I had my hair pulled, I was stepped on, pushed, and screamed at.... all so customers could get to the newest shipment of Beanies.  At the store we joked that Ty would make a Beanie out of anything, nothing was off limits. SO, as an inside joke I made these costumes...Squishy and Squashy Beanies.  We were complete with Ty tags (each had a typical "name" poem inside), bandages, and bicycle tire marks on our butts. Like I said I'd only been dating my husband for a few months when I asked him to put this ridiculous costume on.  He's a football loving, hockey playing tough guy.... so this was not his usual cup of tea/bottle of beer. He only asked that I work a baseball hat into the costume..he always has a hat on.
He wore this silly costume and kept his typical sense of humor. My mom said "that's it, this guy is hooked"!
(PS...the Halloween shaped vodka jello jigglers at the party probably helped him keep his sense of humor  ).

Share your pics!!

Chrissi,  how fun to have pictures of your childhood costumes!!  Very cute!!   Looks like your mom spent a lot of time on them.  I made my girls great costumes every year from their first Halloween on, (first Halloween for them was at 3 months old)  but I can't find anymore pics right now but these.  I was kind of relieved when they outgrew it.  I'd made enough costumes by then.  Most of the costumes I made were worn by my sister's seven (that's right, seven) kids too.

Here are some pics of Halloween days gone by:  Tracy and Paige are my daughters.  Paige won a prize for the scarecrow costume. You can't see them but there is a bird on her shoulder and one on her hat.  The other kids are my step-daughter and my nephew.

ist-halloween.jpgI love Hallowe'en too, and can't wait to see all the kids dressed up.  Everyone's photo's are great!  I can't resist posting on of my favourites of our grandson, Corson, when he was almost one year old in 2004.  He looked soooo cute as Dumbo!

We go to Whitby Gothic Weekend. It is great. There are bands on at night, stalls during the day. It is basically a big meet up for all us goths.

Pretty much everyone gets dressed up, which looks great. There are even professional photographers walking around to get people pictures (only if they are dressed up though).

Only a week and a half left, I can't wait.  bear_grin

If you want to take a look at what it is all about, the official Whitby Gothic Weekend site is below.

I love Halloween too.....as you may have already guessed.  Besides decorating, the best part is seeing the littlest kids in their costumes.  I hand out the treats at our house just so I can see all the costumes!!

Warmest bear hugs,

Here are some pictures taken a few years ago. My son David won a prize on this occasion. He lept adding fresh, fake blood to his face so it looked very yucky.

Meet-the-kids.jpgThese days I pull the curtains and ignore the doorbell.  The kids who turn up round here, turn up with menaces!!  There have been occasions when the little darlings have 'floured and egged' my front door, just for the fun of it.  GRRRRR!!!!  Also, I'm really anti trick or treating because I hate the idea of kids being allowed to go begging by knocking on strangers' doors and usually where I live, the kids aren't accompanied.  In this day and age, it worries me and it's something I just won't support.  Bah humbug eh?

When my kids were much younger, we used to have halloween parties with hollowed out pumpkins and bobbing apples ... these two little monsters of mine loved it!
