A couple of TT'ers requested I post a better picture of my Princess and the Pea. You girls are just lovely to ask. Thank you.
I wish you could see all the detail in this piece. I started with two chairs that I wired together to make the platform for all those mattresses. The bedskirt is sewn directly onto the wire form and made of antique linen and lace. Each little mattress has been hand tied to make it look like a pillow top mattress. Both pillows and most of the mattresses were made using antique fabric from my special stash and the pillows were embellished on both edges with vintage millinery. The princess is just a wee thing at 9 1/2 inches tall. She's wearing a tulle underskirt for flounce and a vintage doll dress I've embellished with antique french trim. The princess even has a little crown made from vintage German dresden paper bits reinforced with wire. Oh! I almost forgot....the pea is made from vintage velvet and secured between two mattresses.
Yes, when I enter a competition piece, I put in lots of detail. It's the detail work that I love most!
Warmest bear hugs,

P.S. This piece is already sold.
Oh my gosh, Aleta. AMAZING!!!! Sooo much attention to detail. Simply exquisite.
We are in rehearsals for Once upon a Mattress in our little community theater. (I'm doing lights for this play. Maybe next year I'll be brave and audition for an actual part.)
Anyway, would you mind if I printed a picture to show our cast and crew?? I know they would love to see it.

Where do you manage to find all those scrummy antique fabrics - they are like hen's teeth over here.
Here's where I show my ignorance  what's the significance of 'The Princess and the Pea'? Is it a nursery rhyme or children's story?
Have I had a deprived childhood or am I just thick?
ALETA ALETA ALETA! She is amazing! You are amazing Hon!
