Ok, so I started this thread so I'd have an excuse to tell you what's happened in my world today, I admit it!
And with all the work I need to do for the Schaumburg show wouldn't you wonder why I'm even on the computer at all????? bear_rolleyes

Well, first of all I've been forced once again, to stretch myself when it comes to bear making. One of my little bear cubs I'm making, as it turns out, is not a bear at all but rather a CAT. I've never made a cat before so this is a challenge. I don't have whisker stuff though and no time to find or order any. Someone have a horse they could pluck for me???????   Anyway, I'm kind of excited about this bear-cat!

More importantly.... my husband FINALLY had his phone interview tonight with the company that is minutes from my parent's house and it went really well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So, I just might be packing boxes to move soon! Moving near the holidays????    It would be so nice to be closer to my parents (the 5 hour drive round trip every week is a bit much!) and to Henry's parents too as well as our summer home and maybe this time we can buy a house with a big fenced in yard for the dogs and one that is within civilization. I love being here in the woods but I'd much prefer to be 5 minutes from the grocery store, mall, Jo Anns bear_original etc.!!!

OK, I need to be level headed about this. Must stay calm.... don't put all my eggs in one basket......

But the future is looking bright at the moment.... hubby may not have a nervous breakdown or die of a heart attack as a result of the company he currently works for after all!!! Yippee!!!! (I'm convinced he's close to a breaking point as it is! Not good!)

So, what GOOD thing happened to you today??????? bear_grin

Daphne that's awesome!! I truly hope it all works out for you both, sounds like it will bear_thumb  I'll keep you in my prayers!! bear_original

I have a good share too!!  I'm newer to the bear "industry".  I've been creating my mini's since 2003, but only recently began to sell.  Until stumbling into TT I wasn't really up on the magazines, shows, etc. I did tons of internet searches, but somehow missed the good stuff!! (BIG thank you TT!!!)
Less than a year ago I made some goals for myself. I'm staying focused and hitting most. There's been a lot of talk about awards, ribbons, prizes, what to be proud of etc..so this may seem small to some, but to me it's big and I'm really happy about it.
I came home after a weekend at my mom's (girls all went shopping and hung out this weekend) to find my TBR and TB&F waiting for me on the kitchen table.  I have a bear pictured in both and it makes me the happiest happy dancing chick on the planet right now.  Like I said, I'm newer to the business side of bears so this is something really special for me
I think I have perma smile bear_grin  bear_grin

OH, Chrissi... that's absolutely wonderful news!  I don't think that being published ever gets old; it always feels so good to be "chosen."

Daphne... I'll be thinking great thoughts for you regarding your move.

My good thing today was simply downtime spent with my family, including the all-too-rare blissful 20 minute nap on the sofa near my computer, while my son researched... something...

So good to hear everyone's good news!  I love a feelgood factor!!!   bear_thumb

I have some to add too, after a disastrous six months of house buying/selling, yesterday my partner and I found a house we both really like, so we made an offer immediately and had our offer accepted!  There's no forward chain, so hopefully, no complications!  I loved the house the minute I walked through the door ... it had just the right 'feel' ... okay, I know that's not the sensible way to assess such a big purchase, but I tried the sensible way the last three times and they all amounted to disaster!  This time I'm running with gut instinct and so far, so good!!

We all had really nice GOODs happen!! Naps and snazzy printers are nothing to sneeze at...I'm wish listing a printer for Christmas this year.  And thank you for the warm comments..I'm still perma smiled..my cheeks are starting to hurt a little

Congratulations on the house Paula!!  It's such a great feeling when you walk into a house and know it's going to be your home bear_wub ...that's the best...esp if you've been out looking for a while (and probably seeing some real doozies along the way!!)

Hummmmm, some good things for me too... eventhough they caused less money in my wallet!
I found the missing beads for the jewelly i am making for a bear (I feared my craft shop would not have some left), i found beautiful ribbons, some goodies for the friend to whom I will send Anatole, and found some clothes for myself (I am making a new wardrobe to replace my poor old clothes).

And my boyfriend loved the meal I prepared for lunch (for change, I cooked something a little bit more complicated). There is some left for tonight eventhough all the meat was eaten! And our kitty ate some too and loved it too! he he he. That was some pork parts cooked in water with some green cabbage, carrots and potatoes... yummy yummy.
I have to say I don't enjoy too much cooking only for two people and Malko is difficult when food is concerned as he does not like many vegetables. A bit tricky to cook things he likes!

Anyway, it has been a good day so far.

Now, i am going to finish Anatole's photo album, as I want to send Anatole in the following days.

Beary hugs,
Sophie.

Daphne and Paula, congratulations on the upcoming moves! It is a wonderful thing to be close to family and, Paula, picking out a house by intuition is not at all a bad idea. When you look at a lot of homes and think, "I guess this could work for us..." and then one just feels like home as soon as you walk in the door, you've got to go with that one!

Chrissi, congratulations. Being published is a great accomplishment! I'm going to look you up in my issue as soon as I get off the computer!

Glad everyone else is having good days. On Friday, my nine year old son came home from school with a big smile on his face announcing, "It's a GOOD day!" I asked him why it was good and still smiling he said, "I don't know why; it just is!" And his beautiful smile made my day!

tt3.jpgtt2.jpgtt1.jpgIt's nice to see so many good things happening to everyone - lets keep it up!
Paula, I knew immediately I stepped through the front door that this house was the one, so I understand completely!  I know you will both love your house.

My daughter, grandson and I went to a close family friend's wedding in Montreal on Saturday, and our 2 1/2 year old grandson was the ring bearer.  We had been stressing about it for a while, not knowing how he would do.  Well, after getting lost in Montreal Friday, and taking two hours to find the hotel (even with 4 sets of instructions from the hotel!), letting Corson swim in the pool, which made his cough much worse, and finally getting lost on the way to the wedding in the country Saturday, 45 minutes away (after leaving ourselves what we thought was MORE than enough time) we arrived 15 minutes late, only to find out the bus with all the people was even later and we had actually made it before the wedding had started -YIPPEE!!!!!!

Then Corson, turned on the charm, walked down the aisle like a pro, behaved like an angel and charmed all the people in attendance, and finished out the day by dancing till 10:15 p.m. with only an hours nap!  Thank heaven for days like that!!!!!

Hmm, well I'm in more of a bad mood today really! I ordered a new pine unit to display my bears, but you have to assemble it yourself, well yesterday Stu and I decided to put it together and discovered that the instructions, screws and handles were missing! So it seem that all I have been doing all day is pulling William (my 16 month old son) away from the pine panels leaning against my existing display unit.....grrrr......luckily the replacement parts are arriving tomorrow......I just wanna see my bears displayed nicely!!!!!

One GOOD that happened today was that I got wolf-whistled at by 3 foreign men on my way to pick James up from school!!!  bear_tongue

What an absolutely wonderful thread!  There is something positive in each day....though admittedly some days are waaaaay better than others.  Sometimes it's the littlest thing that makes the whole day a banner day!

My hubby, who was flat on his back in bed with a bad back all of last week, is now up and about now and, in fact, is outside washing the cars right now!!!

And that is a good thing.

It's so nice to read about everyone's good news! Congratulatins ALL!

Daphne: Hurray!  I'm still keeping my fingers crossed and prayers going up that everything works out with the potential new job!

Congratulations Chrissi!  I haven't gotten my copies yet but I'll be looking for your bears when I do!

Paula, don't underestimate gut instinct! It has always worked out better forme than the sensible way. Part of you just knows when something is the right thing for you. bear_thumb

My good thing is this: I finally finished a bear I have been struggling with for much too long. Such a stubborn and contrary little fellow! I'm soooo glad he is finished. Also, last night we thought our furnace had broken down... it wasn't working at all... but it turned out to be a burnt fuse in the thermostat!. So now I can start a new (and hopefully more cooperative) bear in cozy warmth! Yippee. bear_original

Ok ladies,  Remember when I told you back in July that I was going to become an aunt?  Well, I just got off of the phone with my brother and...... they're having a girl!

bear_original What a great thread, Daphne!

Congratulations to Everybody!!

okay, I know that's not the sensible way to assess such a big purchase,

Paula, this is the only way to buy something as important as a house. If you don't love it, who cares what's right with it. If you do love it, anything wonky can be fixed.

Good news . . . well, my dear little mice didn't sell on eBay after 2 weeks (aaack!), but I'll just pull them back for a bit. The good news is that I'm not upset, because I know they're great!

The other good news is that one of my students, a plumber who flunked high school seven years ago, has made real progress in his online English course--I'm really proud of this young 'un.

And I've started another rabbit, this one a commission for an in-law's baby. I love making critters for kids!

And I deposited a huge payment on the Visa account from my own earnings, which makes my Hubs happy!

It didn't hurt that I bought a package of 4 O'Henry bars along with the groceries, and ate two.

That's very exciting!!!  Is this your first time as an aunt or do you have other little ones in the family already??  My sister is expecting right now, we'll know in November if it's a boy or girl (we're bad with surprises in my family!!!).  It's all really exciting so I can feel your joy!!

I've already picked out Mohair and 2 choices of vintage outfits depending on boy/girl!! bear_grin

Wow, just look at all this exciting news! Babies and moving and new bears and critters being made.

Paula, I'm hoping if Henry get's this job and we move that we can find a house like that. Hubs has to be practical and sensible and take all the fun out of everything! I just want to fall in love with it and move into it plain and simple! You done good, girl!!!

Today was an interesting day and you'll never guess who my dentist is!!!!! He's the great nephew of Clifford Barryman!!!! What do you mean, WHO is Clifford Barryman??? He's the guy who drew the cartoon of Rooselvelt and the bear back in um, 1902!!! Well, I've been to this dentist a number of times but we've never talked about what I do so the whole topic never came up. Today I took my grandmother in to have him pull her tooth and he was wearing a tie with teddy bears on it thus began the conversation. How cool was that, that he's related to the man who started it all and I know him? OK, so it's not as exciting as knowing say George Clooney or Hugh Grant or Mel Gibson but I thought it was neat!  bear_tongue
