This is what life at my house has come to lately...feeding cats, watering cats, loving on two of the cats, trying to convince the other two that the hand that feeds them is really nice and not scarry at all, tripping over cats, cleaning cat doo doo from the flower beds which they think are big litterboxes...cats, cats and more cats... Have I mentioned that I saw THREE more cats scampering down the driveway that I have NEVER seen before. I'm just waiting for them to discover the buffet.
In order from left to right...Surrender, Samech, Skippy and yet to be named
Looks like you have your hands full!

Ah, Shantell, cats know a good thing when they see it . . . the word's out!
Perhaps you could open an official cat shelter? Get state aid to feed all those mouths and spay (once you capture) those who need it! (No names mentioned, SKIPPY!!)
I think it's so cool that they all know to come to you. Word is definitely out!
I can't wait for you to pick a name for Chocolate Swirl... that's what I call her cause she's the colors of milk and dark chocolate!
Shantell,
I told you that there must be a sign pointing to your house that says "all you can eat and free board!"
They are sooooo lucky to have such a softee to look after them!
hugs,
Brenda
I think the word on the streets is SUCKER!!!!
Skippy and Surrender have managed to reclaim their bed. And, yes it is a covered litterbox turned cat condo. As you can see Surrender isn't shy about moving right on in and giving poor ol' Skippy the big skooch over.
Hi Shantell,
Aren't those two kitties in the box Max's Mom and Dad? He did give a little nose kiss on the computer when I showed him. I hope I showed him the right daddy.
Max is off to the vet tomorrow to be neutered. Oh funny....I just typed the word neutered and he crawled under the sherpa mat that I have next to the computer. Now he's moving across the desk under the mat....and there he goes out of the office with the mat. Hmmmmm. This may be a sign of things to come tomorrow.

Warmest bear hugs,

Aw Shantell, we are all "suckers" when it comes to our pets! Cat's especially seem to be able to search out a "good deal", so to speak. Surrender and Skippy look so sweet together, but I suppose Skippy would be happier if she were the one not getting squished!
My big boy, Bear, is driving me crazy. Ever since we moved, he wants to be with me ALL the time. He follows me EVERYWHERE and it's driving me nuts - he's like a whiney child. I feel badly because he is getting old, but he's wearing thin! I can't even go to the bathroom without him scratching at the door - it's like having a small child all over again!
hugs,
Brenda

Yep, those two would be Max's parents. They may be from the "other side of the tracks" but they made cute cute cute little babies.
Poor Max...off to the vet for snip snip snip. I'll be thinking of him tomorrow. Gosh...it's hard to believe that he is old enough for that already.
They grow up so fast.
Big purry kitty hugs,
Well you are bringing up a topic close to my heart. I just love cats. You are a good soul shantell to take care of those kitties who need it. Kitty hugs for you.
Michelle
Shantell,
I know how you feel. At last count we are feeding around 15 cats here. Fortunately we have a huge barn for them to take shelter in. I thank you for caring for these cats. So many times cats get a rough way to go in life.
I just love cats also. Theres nothing better that hugging a fury friend..... WELL.... Hugging my sons is pretty good also You can check them out on my web sight . My cats and sons
Hey, Shantell,
Neat KittyKondo--I use an old covered litter box to feed the cats in--it keeps the dogs out of their food!
I think its WONDERFUL you care for all those kittys. I'd take in every stray if I could that why I can't even watch those shows on animals that need homes/stray. Keep up the good work.
Kathleen
Shantell, I was going to offer you the stray who's currently residing in my garage, but since Nina lives closer, maybe she'd like to have him. He's an orange and white neutered male whom the neighborhood kids have named "Pumpkin." He showed up about 10 days ago and just won't leave. He snuck into the house the other night, so I took him to the vet to make sure he doesn't have anything nasty to give to my two cats (he's fine). My son and I want to keep him, but my husband is already over his cat limit and says three is out of the question. We're hoping to find his original owner, but I've located a no-kill shelter that will take him if that doesn't work. We're all such big softies!
Mindy
Awwww...it's really no big deal. My view is that they didn't ask to be here or be dumped into a world to fend for themselves. When I first moved here, my little old neighbor man (he's 80) was shocked that I had started feeding the white cat, Surrender. He proceeded to tell me how he had tried to kill it several times without luck...well, he got a piece of my mind needless to say. Funny thing...HE is now feeding the barn cats at his house and even feeds mine when I go out of town. He's an ornery ol' thing with a huge heart just had to be all tough about it.
I was almost able to pet Surrender this morning. He's such a mess and can hardly see. I knelt down directly in front of him this morning about two feet away and he just talked and talked to me for the longest time. I'm sure he was telling me some "big fish" story. Poor old cat....
Shantell you have a kind and loving heart....and the cats in your neighborhood must be spreading the word about the Apple Dumpling Buffet!
It's so hard not to feed them when they come up to your door and press thier noses against the glass. The barn cats on our farm know where to food is.....and if they want to , they can catch mice but my husband says why would they want to do that when they can get a meal for free. He thinks they should be mousing....but the mother in me sees hungry faces that need to be fed....several times a day!
We go through cat food so fast around here. My son, Joey, will take a mountain of cat food and dump it outside the door....everyday.
Mindy,
It sounds like Pumpkin has been a house cat. Obviously someone took the time to have him neutered. If you can get him to me, I can fit him in around here. Funny thing, my son and his wife talked about taking one of the kittens that I have now acquired. But just a few days ago, my son found a kitten in a bin of pumpkins. This kitten had an injury to the tail and had to have his tail removed. This kitten is an orange and white male. They named him Punkin.
Shantell,
Keep working with that cat. You will be petting him before too long. That is how I have come to get the mama cat (Mia) and her 4 kittens. When she came here, she was so wild. She is now living in my Florida room with her babies. I also am now able to pet and hold the tom cat that we believe to be the father of the kittens (that's another paternity story for Maury). It takes time, love and patience. Once they know that they can trust you, they will beg for attention.
He thinks they should be mousing....but the mother in me sees hungry faces that need to be fed....several times a day!
Yikes, Judi--keep it up, girl! Think of all the poor baby mice you're saving when the cats don't eat their mommies.
I have to keep an eye on the composter all winter--there are always mice nesting at the warm center of it, and the cats patrot constantly, waiting for the mom-mouse to come out!
Well... There must be word spreadiing about Shantell's free all you can eat buffet...
I did manage to find a new home for my boys... every once in a while I miss them, but for the most part I don't. I have decided that I will be happy with other people's pets. Right now I don't have the money or time that pets require.
Well its hard not to be a softie when it comes to an outdoor kitty...afterall, cats crave comfort. Just think of all those happy kitties you've helped Shantell.
